Don't know Darnold playing well is surprising. The Jets drafted him when he was 20 and gave up on when he was 23, while playing him when he wasn't ready. In 2022 he played great in that defacto playoff game vs us. He had us knocked out of the playoffs and Carolina in the playoffs until Brady went off in that 4th qtr (12/13, 166 yards 2 passing TDs, rushing TD). He went to SF betting on Purdy not being ready. If he got to play instead of Purdy he would still be SF's QB.

He signed a 1-year, $10M deal. Him playing as well as he has is a surprise for just about everyone around the league. You were advocating signing Darnold this offseason, so you get the credit for that.
Darnold deserves credit for his turnaround, but so does Kevin O'Connell. He's done a really good job in Minnesota, especially this season.

Obviously, this is complete speculation on your part. Darnold not being able to beat out Mr. Irrelevant (some also called him "Shaun King" as well) returning from injury is one of the reasons his play this season is surprising to most.
Take NOTHINg from Darnold, but the Vikes are playing like a WELL-COACHED team and just got their 2nd receiver back. Darnold has been impressive though and hope he keeps it going.

Don't look now, but according to Passer Rating, Baker is 4th overall and 3rd in the NFC, behind Darnold and Jayden. Checking both ESPN and PFR, Baker is top-10 in most stat columns (NFL) and top-5 in several. In just the NFC, Baker is top-5 or top-6 in most columns.
