The Arians to Bowles transition had nothing to do with the Glazers. Like, it was basically an Arians decision that was carried out by the Glazers.
So for the first time in a minute, we have a real coaching search.
I don’t love the candidates out there many are mentioning. Joe Brady and Todd Monken seem to be the most talked about but both don’t really move the needle for me. Brady has had Burrow, Chase, and Jefferson in Baton Rouge and playground master, Josh Allen in the pros. Monken is a classic (pretty good OC but a nothing burger personality wise)
Also, fuck the Gruden discussion. It’s not happening.
I really don’t want a “defensive minded” head coach except maybe Tomlin
What say you?
Kubiak
@donkey_hunter I think he would be solid. A smidge concerned with his time in NO But I understand it was an anomaly. Solid suggestion. The more I read about him, the more intrigued I am. My favorite coach in the league, despite him not having any rings, is Shanahan and by proxy, Kubiak has some of that in him.
Kubiak should be first choice
but could see them ending up with Mike Tomlin or John harbaugh

We need an offensive minded HC for sure. We are fortunate in the fact that the Glazers want to win.
Only way I’d want Tomlin… if he’s let go is as a DC. Hes a younger slight upgrade over Bowles…Much like Bowles he’ll likely get you to the playoffs, but unless he’s got loaded offense he’s not going to do much once he’s there. Sure he could get HC offers, but I think he might have to drop back to a DC for a year or two to re-establish himself. Like most others have stated, I prefer an offensive minded HC, but I’d like if whomever that is will keep the 3-4 defensive alignment that we’ve built for the past several years(preferably an attacking 3-4)

So good coaches need good players? And if they have bad players they’ll look bad, even if they’re a good coach?
I think the biggest cost for the franchise is the labor contact. So the ownership will want to maximize the talent we already have. It would make sense that we target an offensive mind, but the emphasis will be to get the best available coach that can utilize the talent we already have. Thats why I think Tomlin makes some sense, I think Harbaugh would be as well. He at least understands the importance of a dynamic offense to match with a defense that can be elite.Kubiak should be first choice

We’ll see. Making the decision to get a new coach is a balance between who is available with the one who can maximize the talent for which you’re already paying.
I think the decision to replace Bowles was made during the Atlanta game. We’re just playing out the clock now.

Agreed
Is Liam Coen available?

Bad players can be coached into being competitive in the NFL. Think about the Jags. They wasted their first round pick and next year’s first round pick to go up in the draft and grab an undersized DB/not super great WR. Didn’t hurt them at all. They have a coach who can get what’s necessary out of the team he has.
We have talent in Tampa. We aren’t getting enough out of them.
Kubiak rides the coattails of Shanahan. He is no Shanahan. Kubiak was horrible in Denver and then his offense was horrendous with Aaron Rodgers. Way overrated.
I’m going to look into coaching options this week. Tomlin can’t find a good offensive coordinator and hasn’t won a playoff game since 2015. Think outside the box. Are there other Sean McVay disciples?

So why were the 2019 Bucs bad?

Because their QB accounted for 35 turnovers.

How’s his offense looking this year with Darnold?
