Why are they kicking a touchback from the 50?!?!

In hindsight, this means nothing since we got smoked... However, up 7-0 and they score a quick Chris Conte TD.... Why are we kicking a touchback through the endzone after a penalty on the extra point?! We are at the 50 yard line. Every other team in the league would try to kick the ball to the 5 yard line and most likely pin them inside the 15... You see it every weekend... or if you really want to try something go for the onside kick and they get the ball inside the 40... but to just let them have the ball at the 25 makes absolutely zero sense to me... Am i completely wrong for thinking this? It's just another small detail that makes you wonder if these coaches actually think things through!
