Licht gave us the answer to this test question - the market price ofnFA’s is inflated, he doesn’t see the relative value vs the price he has to pay. There are so many quality players still available. Our window is now. We have Baker, Godwin, Evans, and Vea now. In a couple years, Maker will get a huge raise, and Vea, Godwin, and Evans will be retired. Anyway, all of these guys would be significant upgrades over guys that are on our roster. All of them could hit big, and if not, they would all at the very least be better than the backups at their positions:
CB - Asante Samuel.
Nickle - Mike Hilton
Edge - Za-Darius Smith
LB - EJ Speed and Kyzir White (both of whom I think would start over anyone, including David, on our team)
WR - Keenan Allen. Even last year, with a rookie QB, he still caught 70 passes. What are the chances that both Godwin and Evans play the whole year without getting hurt?
The spending frenzy is done. Some of these could be gotten at a bargain.
He got another splash play, done quickly, for an area of supreme need. He paid $14 mil for a prove it deal.
He won’t do a lot of it, just enough. Maybe he signs another corner, but it won’t be a splash player… hopefully not Jamel Dean, but that’s the value available for a 7-8 year vet.
rest will be done in the draft.
All good. If the offense is very good, then the defense just needs to be average.

Also look at how quickly Licht re-signed Bredeson, Trask, Sheppard, Gaines, and Brewer.
Licht is signaling that he rather re-up mostly his own free agents then look for outside help. Reddick and Dixon shore up two MAJOR weaknesses while the other two new additions just off set the loss of Skule and Britt to other teams.
If there is one splash left for Licht it will be a safety as veteran safeties are always on the free agent market.
Why do some people say we need a safety? I would rather have 2 cbs and one having the ability to play safety in an emergency. We have winfield, tykee, itzien and merriweather. Quality vet lb would be nice. WE did sign that guy from miami lb
@casoren agree for the most part. i also want that 4th rotating lineman in free agent or the draft , beside greg gaines, we need another stud to keep a fresh rotation..tech 3 or tech 5 would be nice. DL seems to be a deep position in draft
Just re-signed sterling shepard so I think we are set there til the draft/team cuts

Depth.
Bucs need depth at ILB, CB, S, WR and OL because that depth last season was an issue which cost the Bucs a few games.

Agreed I think the team can do better than Gholston in that regard but we have see if the team looks at the remaining free agents this Monday and makes a few moves at DL, OL, CB and S.

yep like all da way said depth.
tykee will be sliding over to start next to awj so our starters are solid. Not much behind them tho. Who will play nickel? Izien? Our secondary was ravaged with injuries last year can never have too much depth at any position.
Pastriots signed K'Lavon Chaisson for 1 year, $5M. This would have been a great signing for the Bucs.
Azeez Olujari is still out there.
Asante Samuel Jr is still out there. We could sign him to a 1 year deal and then draft one of those corners coming off injury.
I would have rather tried elijah moore at wr over sheperd if the price was right. I like sheperd , but last year he played like a rookie and he is not as fast as he used to be. Elijah Moore everytime I see him play I wonder why he isnt more of a focal point for team, but he may be a head case. He reminds me of poor man antonio brown on the field.
Olujari to the 49ers. Licht is putting way too much stock in Yaya "almost had 15 sacks" Diaby
Offensive line depth. I'm supposed to be excited about Luke "Lookinabit" Haggard and Charlie "Who the" Heck? We need some better depth at offensive line. Losing Hainsey and Skule has left a big void that still needs to be addressed. We got our starters back, but those depth players always turn out to be needed during the year. And a middle round rookie probably learning a new position isn't going to help that much in 2025. I see guys on the unsigned list and I have no idea which ones have back injuries or whatever, for example Dalton Risner came off a back injury last year. I have no idea which of these guys have something left in the tank, but the Bucs need to figure it out and bring in one or two more veterans particularly at IOL.

Obviously, getting better backups is a plus. But OL depth around the league is sketchy. Very few, and I mean very few, teams have what most would call good OL depth.
As an exercise, look around the league and tell me which teams have good OL depth. It will probably surprise you.
I'll take your word for it since I wouldn't be able to tell you which backups are any good around the league, but I do know that losing Hainsey and Skule is not good.
