Scot McCloughan
Yeah, that's him! I hear he's pretty good.
Oh, how I wish. How I wish.
He had a winning record and went to the Super Bowl and survived 9 years as a coach. I would sày he did succeed. Better than most head coaching stints turn out.
He did fizzle out toward the end of his tenure, which culminated in a 10-win season, but I do not fault him for that. Look at his GM.
And this could turn into his Belichick/Patriots for all I know. He is certainly an upgrade over Rutgers but I was looking for an offensive minded coach for OBVIOUS reasons. This is a new NFL and there's no room for dinosaurs anymore. Playing defense and complimentary football is a bad formula these days. But that's just my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I definitely was interested in an exciting offensive mind as well. But in my opinion, we got the next best thing. This is the first real head coach we've had in Tampa since Gruden. Whether or not he was successful is definitely fuel for debate, but he has at least proved himself to me as competent. That to me is exciting. Tedford is an unknown, but again, he could bring an exciting new dimension to the team.
He did succeed with the Bears.
Well, I mean of course in terms of going all the way.His record is stellar, no doubt. However, there is a portion that thinks he could never "finish the job".
"No doubt" Really? Over the last 6 seasons, he was virtually a 9-7 coach with 1 playoff appearance. Anyone who needs 6 years to "finish the job", and couldn't... I wouldn't exactly say he was "stellar".
The premise of the subject line is kind of strange don't you think?
Another thing thatt is a Plus is Lovie will immediately identify with this town. He was here. He know what Tampa is at it's core and what we need to uphold that tradition.
Lets hope he doesn't discover the awesome array of strip clubs as well

I think Lovie will get the d playing lights out, but I have a bad feeling he's a Dungy clone and still feels defenses can carry a team and not much will be invested on the o side of the ball. Tedford hopefully can scheme better than he coaches with the list of qbs he didnt have ready for the NFL. that is what scares me more then lovie, the fact we need vast improvement on the offensive side of the ball and im not sure it was addressed.
Wait until the draft... just wait. Lovie desperately wants to overcome the notion that his offenses are inferior.

Yo have to put into context that this was with an aging D and no quarterback. Never finished below 7-9Again, by succeed, i mean win a championship. This is not to say he didn't do well otherwise.

feel free to elaborate, and speak loudly enough for the Anomaly to hear you =P

Well before he even officially had a job he was looking for another coach to compensate for what has been his biggest weakness over his career. Will it work? Who knows, but he clearly acknowldges what did him in with the Bears and is trying to correct that.
