I was never anti Lovie but my conviction wasn't there. I generally don't believe in killing a teams progress when the team is progressing but ok, everyone says last season was an inexcusable failure even though we would definitely be where we are had it not happened. Tampa fans would have been pro fire Jimmy Johnson after his first year and we'd have no Cowboys dynasty to speak of.Today though, I am firmly in the Lovie camp. First, why do we even think we keep Koetter if we get a new head coach? What kind of head coach doesn't bring in his own guys? A loser, that's who. A guy who sends a message he's not in control of his own ship. It could happen but it most likely would not. Here's the kicker though. I do believe in Jameis Winston and lets hear what he has to say.

Quote:
- Buccaneers rookie quarterback Jameis Winston said Wednesday that he owes head coach Lovie Smith a tremendous debt of gratitude for helping the No. 1 overall pick acclimate to life in the NFL.“I think without Coach Smith, I probably wouldn't be where I am as far as the mental capacity and what it takes to be a true professional in this league,” Winston told the Chicago media. “The way that he treats us players and the way that he holds us accountable for everything, that really teaches you how to be a great man.“Everything that he says is a teaching moment, it's a walking teaching tape.”A controversial figure at Florida State, Winston is flourishing in the stable environment Smith created in Tampa.“Coach Lovie, he teaches me something new every day,” Winston said. “I can’t really walk you step-by-step through the process that we’ve had together here at Tampa Bay. But what I can say is, without that man as my coach I probably wouldn’t be where I am today.” ...

This reads sincere. So, to fire him we remove a OC that has been phenomenal and we lose the head coach that he credits with his development so far as player and a man. GTFO. Let's not do this until we absolutely have to. Lets not handicap the best thing to happen to this franchise in 13 years because we are self anointed experts and we don't like our coach.
