Why not Mike Evans

I think he'd be a great pick.Evans is a BPA type of pick even though a lot of people would have a problem with it because we already have Jackson.I understand that but it's very short sighted ...For one in the short term this would put MW in the slot which would be exciting to watch. (Even though he's a moron off the field...hopefully things settle down)Long term you replace VJax with the best possible guy. He'd be excellent value at #7, we need help on offense more than we need a 3-4 LB like Barr or Mack.We're only 1 injury away from having the Jets receiving core, probably worse which is scary. We need to score point's & Vjax needs help.I know there is depth in this WR class but we only have 5 picks (thanks Dom) Evans is gonna dominate in the NFL much like VJax.He is a stud that is being overshadowed by Watkins. We really have to consider this because our offense needs another big time weapon.Evans fits the bill as a true #1 as good as anyone in the draft so why not pick him?Say hypothetically Watkin's is there at #7 even though we know he won't be. I think in some ways Evans would be as good a selection as Watkins. I like Sammy but he is very raw, and remember what Licht said "We're not talent collectors, we're looking for good fits."Evans is the next Vincent Jackson, no need to list pro's and cons, we all know what type of player he is.To me he even has the same fire and energy as Jackson. Plus he's got the size and toughness to handle the punishment of the NFL.On passing downs lets look at VJax, Watkins, MWill, Tim Wright, and Martin/Demps. This line up wouldn't put much stress on our pass blocking because their would be more short passes and screens, this offense would be a much different dynamic than we've ever seen in Tampa besides our QB being a huge question mark. Defense's would finally respect our ability to throw it deep so they can't stack and jam as much. 40-60 yard touchdowns would be much more prevalent.Now on the flip side... VJ, Evans, MW, Tim Wright, & Martin/Demps. Perhaps a more efficient offense that will move the sticks all day, deadly in the red zone, better blocking on the perimeter, and down the field/back shoulder fades would just be silly. MWill and Tim Wright would be perfect to handle the underneath stuff. We wouldn't have a speed demon so the offense would still lack explosiveness. That's where I think we look at a guy like John Brown out of Pittsburg St in the middle to late rounds.Remember this @ScottHanson In last five years 15 WR's have run *official* sub 4.4 at #NFLCombine. Only 1 (Mike Wallace) has a 1,000 yard NFL season.”So Watkins is kinda risky being picked so high. I think Evans is a safer pick. I truly see Evans as an ideal #1 target. Why wouldn't you want the next Vincent Jackson?Now if we don't go Evans then go offensive line with the first pick.I'm tired of fearing the pass rush of our division foes, the week leading up to NO/CAR horrifies me, because I know our oline is going to get manhandled, the offensive will be dreadful and sloppy and our QB tossed and slammed like a rag doll. I'm SICK of watching defenders like Cam Jordan, Hardy and Charles Johnson dominating our backfield and doing their sack dances over and over. To me there is nothing more demoralizing.So let me know what you guys think, will we even consider Evans?

I think watkins and evans will both have solid careers.Put either one in their element and they're tough to beat.

I think the whole "different kinds of wide receiver thing" is kind of overated. Although he is money on deep balls and jump balls, I have seen VJ work different areas of the field. We have already seen what VJ and Mike can do together when they stay healthy for a whole season. With that being said I would LOVE Watkins or Mike Evans at #7. Although Watkins is not the ideal size, he has long arms and a fantastic vert, along with good hands, All of those things go well with his best skill of course, his speed and pure explosion. He also brings A LOT to the return game. He is a stud and I would love to see him in Tampa.There is a 50/50 chance Watkins falls to us, but I think there is a very very good chance Mike Evans is there at 7. Put on any Jonny Football tape and you will see Evans bailing him out time and time again. He ran a 4.5 and is 6'5. He has great hands but most importantly, he has elite body control. I love VJ and think he was worth every penny, but he is getting older. There is nothing wrong with having two jump ball guys. Look at the bears with Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. I'm really not in love with any of the top pass rushers in this draft besides Clowney (and even he worries me). Mike or Sammy at 7 would be great. He could be one of the best options in the middle of the field in the entire league with his size, speed, and catching ability. For Vjax to excel more in the slot we need a guy to take double teams off him. Draft Evans, could really extend Jackson's career also. Watkins is my favorite guy in this draft, but I would be fine trading down and picking up Evans … or even Lee.
