This is going to be a defensive struggle and likely a low scoring affair. At first glance a name like the San Francisco 49ers sends cold chills down your back thinking oh **CENSORED**, it's gonna be a blow out. Well let's look at the numbers a bit for further investigation.Defense:Tampa: Bend but don't break mentality that makes more mistakes that comfortable with but also forces a lot of turnovers by way of INT and fumble.49ers: Legit all around. We're talking about a Panthers talented front 7 with more talent on the back end. Advantage to the 49ers with no question. We can stay in it if we force 2-3 turnovers and Glennon stays clean. The real discussion is the coming back to earth of Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers offense. San Fran is ranked 28th in the league on offense boasts an abysmal 37% 3rd down conversion rate even though they are often put in manageable 3rd down situations as the result of a powerful offensive line and RB. I like this match up as our penetrating style of line play does well against slower more powerful runners as it causes them to redirect and not be able to establish momentum. As a passing, Kaep is currently putting up very Glennon like stats across the board. He has 16 TD passes in 13 games. 11 are to Vernon Davis and the other 5 to Anquan Boldin. This is of noted because if you passed 3rd grade you'll do the math correctly and realize that he has 0 td passes to any other player this year. I really like this match up as offenses often do not travel well and we all know the struggles away teams have on cross country flights at 1pm kick off. Plus we have Revis who can do a very nice job on Bolden and the combination of David/Barron should be able to slow Vernon Davis. To sum up, I don't think we win this game simply because we still make a ton of mistakes on both sides of the ball. We've also just eclipsed the 1,000 yard penalty mark for the year. The lower scoring the game, the more the penalties hurt. I think our defense will do a good job against a 49er offense that looks nothing like it did last year. Wild card is Mike Crabtree has returned and is ready to play i believe. I see the bucs losing a tight one 20-13.

Revis vs Boldin and Crabtree as well. All very physical guys. Goldson/Barron vs Davis. Gore vs Lavonte or Lavonte vs a guard. Some very exciting matchups.

I agree.. I see Revis vs Boldin and Banks vs Crabtree most of that day.Mase vs Miller should be a good fight too.

I don't think we'll see Revis line up on Bolden every play. I think we'll see him rotate between the two in an attempt to make Kap move away from his 1st read, which is something he's struggled with this year.

Not to mention a slight let down after the big win over Seattle last week.  If we protect the ball, then this can be close and anything can happen.

AFC west teams win collectively 35% of the time when traveling to the eastern standard time zone since 2006.

Talent wise I think we're not too far from them but they have us beat in coaching. They will exploit us on defense like the Panthers did.

McCoy will likely get washed out as he is playing a physical offensive line. Similar to what the Panthers have done to him. Banks is going to have to step up on Crabtree/whoever revis isnt covering. Barron will need to D-up Vernon Davis. If they can rattle Kap it will be close. If not, we will get dominated.

What does that have to do with an NFC West team traveling east?

The Niners are coming East cross country and playing an early game. They are coming off an emotional win too. This game is in Sullivan's hands IMO. We score points, we likely win.

Why Sunday's game will be closer than you think...

Who thinks it will be a blowout?

It could be a big spread for the Niners but they aren't gonna hang 35 or something up on us. I can see them winning 21-6 and a 15 point win is a pretty bad drubbing to take.
