Those blitzes Lions dialed up where way more effective than the shit Bowles was dialing it up.
Not sure who to blame for why we couldn't handle that
Why did Bowles not use his final timeout? The Lions screwed up and snapped the ball way too soon. That wasn't a chipshot FG either. Lions kickers hasn't made a FG longer than 41 yards this year.
i mean look no further than the pregame shows. The Refs had an agenda.
certainly gave Detroit the advantage.
that being said, the defense collapse when we needed them most in the 4th quarter was #1 reason.
plus Detroit was the better team. i mean at a certain point when it was 17-17, i was laughing in disbelief that this 9-8 team was 15 minutes away from playing in the NFC Champ game. We had no business being there.
The team has mid tier talent and we need to upgrade that talent to be a true contender next year. The offensive line could be better...that's for sure, so not sure what positions they target but that needs to be a high priority along with rushing the QB - edge.
1.) Bowles defensive game plan - it was a major dud
The other reasons you listed are legit, but this is the main reason. Plus the fact when everyone could see the original d game plan wasn't working, there were no adjustments. Bowles' stubbornness is exasperatingly confounding.

He chose himself, his comforting Cowardice-His comfortable Jets ways, over the team who was fighting for their lives out there, sacrificing their bodies for him. Thats UNFORGIVABLE!!!!! HE has 1 chance to fix it or, he needs to GO period. Fix it, or go tf home!!!!
Ryan Neal and Devin White barely saw the field last week versus the Eagles and our defense looked much better. So what does Bowles do with that lesson?? He decides to play them MORE versus the Lions. What the eff was he thinking? Those bums cost us play after play.
Another thing that needs to be addressed is Vita Vea’s playtime. Anytime we’re getting gashed up the middle, this guy is sucking wind on the sidelines. I know he’s not going to play every down and needs breaks, but he seems to take way more breaks than he should. He’s letting us down so much when he’s not out there. I’d rather have him a few pounds less with more snaps played.
Lastly, zero pressure on Goff is what really did us in. The rest was good enough for us to get the win. Shaq Barrett is done.

Mayfield and Canales?
That would be my guess because we were so unprepared for them.
our offensive line sees drop out blitzes every day in practice

Sorry Disagree. They got LUCKY. The Refs where on their side as was our play calling on the defensive'side. Take away 2 sacks, and 0.5 INT, and I think we win the Victory. Sans Deans Injury, we still may have found VICTORY. But what will be...will be, and now the team has an offseason for free to start learning who they CHOOSE TO BE. Will B find his Sack and start the attack? Or will he forever stay a Jet at heart...of that, WE WANT NO PART!!!! Im also a part time wrapper, of sorts, words fall onto my keyboard at times like this when. im.. just...bored....BEAR with me mY Cohorts.
I like your enthusiasm, but Blayton is right. Lions simply a better team, coaches on the sidelines, and most player positions on the field. The Bucs gave a good effort. Yes, the officiating was one-sided, but you got to play better to overcome that.

Ryan Neal had no business being on the field at all. Just a stupid move by Bowles smfhThis post was modified 1 year ago by BucsWin31

I like Ramonb's answer better because I love the enthusiasm too, but yes I disagree. I think they are a better team.
One reason I say that is reflected in all the posts about Bowles defense and not adjusting and not playing certain players.
I certainly understand that frustration, but switch to which players? Thats sort of the point, they took advantage of our pretty glaring defensive PERSONNEL weaknesses. And boy did that really become clear when Dean went out.
If you were their OC (and he is one of the best) you would know going in that we had a weakness at LBer because the White drama is obviously. You would see within a few series that Britt was GREAT against your run game BUT ALSO incapable of stopping your short passing game. Youd alos know before the game ever started that keeping your offense on schedule would keep one of our BLITZERS (White) off the field or at least get him out there on plays that from down/distance perspective you could change to TAKE ADVANTAGE of him.
In other words, there is at least a possibility (unpopular as it may be) that Bowles was getting the best he could out of the defensive team he had BUT THAT TEAM WAS NOT VERY DEEP WITH TALENT.
We were stopping the run and our corners were in shut down mode . . so they went MIDDLE OF THE FIELD and killed us. We did blitz sometimes and we paid a price on a couple plays. They have a PRO BOWL Center, I think .. . and their line held up well. Our line? not so much
Better all around. Not by a lot, but better, playing at home, historic run etc.
It doesn't seem to get much play here, but we were in catch up mode the whole game, right? Trying to stay with them.
They went three series with 60-80 yards drives for TDs. Talk about DEMORALIZING a defense. Those aren't "our offense put is in a bad spot" drives for TDs those are "we have no answer" drives for TDs

I asked the same question about Neal in one of the game day threads. What the heck Bowles sees in Neal is beyond me. I was wondering if an injury to someone was the reason but I didn't hear of one.

This stuff with Bowles is pretty frustrating. His clock management continues to be an issue as well.
