One reporters take:
"NBC's Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth passed on a note that Todd Bowles expressed confidence in his defense's ability to stop the Lions during their production meetings leading up to the game, and for a while, it looked like Bowles was onto something. The Lions drove 75 yards for a touchdown drive and a 10-3 lead in the second quarter, but the Bucs had outplayed Detroit for most of the game through a great defensive series to start the third quarter. But after that, the Lions asserted their will offensively and the Bucs' D looked overmatched late. The loss of cornerback Jamel Dean in the second half didn't help, and the Bucs had no answer for when the Lions started picking up all of Tampa Bay's blitzes after halftime.
The hold on the 4th and 1 td run was so blantent.
The announcers just kept talking about the "grit" of him being back in there while he had Vita in a choke hold.
Awful officiating per usual.

Collingsworth needed to wipe his chin the way he was talking about it.
I disagree, I believe Baller outplayed GOFF, GOOF woulda GOFFED if Not for Bowls being SOFT!!!! And the Injury to Dean was just fate being mean. The Refs were befuddled by Fate but still found a way to secure fate for the Kitties, we shoulda been FULL to our stomach from Kitty pussi on the flight back, but our D was called by a Pussi named B
We’ll simply have to agree to disagree, good sir.
Good Sir, that was quite a stir, even your responses rhym, can we agree to disagree about even B being a P...was that intentional or accidental??? I Cant Be, someone who gets ME, sometimes my symbolism makes ppl DIZZY. Bwhahahaha Im on a roll today, let me rest up and save alil for the next Day!!!!

Ill say this. If I was a betting man, and I AM. ID RUN THAT PLAY BACK 100 times and Vita wins that 99 times. That is All. VITA IS A BEAST NOW, that olineman is a LEGEND but past tense. He's still got some fight and sum LUCK, but his days of whipping VITA consistently are gone. The Lions better say a prayer of thanks to their LUCKY stars that VITA didnt BLOW THAT UP. I think something buckled his knees from behind because IIRC, Vita looked like his chest was high but he was leaning backwards, the Olineman looked like his torso was below Vita, so from that vantage I cant see how VITA with the high ground didnt overpower the guy, my bet is that he was put off balance somehow, unfortunately...things like that....happen :(
i mean pretty obvious we lost because the defense was figured out in the 4th quarter.
Let Detroit go 70 yards on what 4 plays to start the 4th.
we then had a 3 and out. piss poor on offense but we are talking about a 17-17 game through 45 minutes so not like we were talking shootout here.
then Detroit goes 89 yards chewing up nearly 6 minutes. Game was over at this point 31-17
Offense answers with 2 minute TD drive and inexplicitly we go for 2 due to analytics.
we get the ball back with 2 minutes left and would have to drive 90 yards. Not impossible by any means but not a guarantee obviously. then assuming we score, we'd have to go for two, the best result we could have hoped for was 31-29 with 2 pt miss either due to blatant interference non call or what have you
only way this team was getting to the NFC Champ game was if they dominated the game. as most games are " a game of inches", we had little shot despite the effort by this ball club. Lions-49ers just a better match-up story line
i mean you saw them try to nullify the Otton TD end of 1st half; were definitely saving that in the back pocket
1). Lions a better team
Sorry Disagree. They got LUCKY. The Refs where on their side as was our play calling on the defensive'side. Take away 2 sacks, and 0.5 INT, and I think we win the Victory. Sans Deans Injury, we still may have found VICTORY. But what will be...will be, and now the team has an offseason for free to start learning who they CHOOSE TO BE. Will B find his Sack and start the attack? Or will he forever stay a Jet at heart...of that, WE WANT NO PART!!!! Im also a part time wrapper, of sorts, words fall onto my keyboard at times like this when. im.. just...bored....BEAR with me mY Cohorts.
I like your enthusiasm, but Blayton is right. Lions simply a better team, coaches on the sidelines, and most player positions on the field. The Bucs gave a good effort. Yes, the officiating was one-sided, but you got to play better to overcome that.
Grrrr, grudgingly agree. But theres NEXT YEAR...

We HAD ONE MORE PLAY that B PISSED AWAY!!!!
That is all. We coulda had 6 seconds B!!!! YOUR A PPPP
grrrr, I take that back I AM just ANGRY!!!3. WouououSawwwwwww.....

I rewatched a lot of the film , and I would say we weren't doing the little things right. On paper it looks good but when youre up against the talent and execution of top tier teams the little things such as spacing, timing, gap control, in goes into player ability. Literally inches and milliseconds change the game

unfortunately, I just don’t know the rules aside from a lay person general understanding. I wish I could rewatch and analyze, what did you see there? As I was watching the game, I thought we were “winning” or in control up until the 2 point conversion +/- the Dean injury. That should have been called PI, I knew then that the Refs were…perhaps Biased, is the kindest word I can say right now. I just rewatched it, the 2 point conversion fail, the guy was literally draped on Mike, the look back for the ball was basically after the ball hits him in the back while he’s virtually hugging Mike…that woulda made it a 6 point game with about 2 minutes to play and at Least ONE time out. Maybe someone with better knowledge can better explain why that Wasn’t PI? Mike was tracking the ball, running to the corner of the EZ and the defender just runs Thru him, if that’s not PI, then I don’t know what is…it would have been PI if Mike Evans was wearing a Lions Jersey, but tis life…
Maybe someone with better knowledge can better explain why that Wasn’t PI?
I think Collinsworth covered it pretty well. Mike should have made some effort to jump or go get the ball, at which point the defender would have had to through him since he wasn't looking at the ball. Otherwise, the ref could rule tight coverage - which is what the ref did.
The flag certainly could have been thrown as is, but Mike could have (and should have) done a better job to ensure the flag was thrown.

He DID tho, Mike almost even caught it behind the dudes back, Collinsworth even says that. To "me" that suggests effort to catch the ball-He touched the ball with atleast one hand around the DB's back. I think what Collinsworth was implying was direction of momentum, he wanted to SEE ME13 driving back towards the ball, but how exactly? He was running a route and the DB is draped on on, its hard to plant your foot and redirect yourself from running "away/towards the corner of the endzone" to "towards the coming ball" I think he managed as best he could and still tried to catch it behind the DB's back while the guy is running through him. That's like elementary 101 momentum physics. At this point, it water under the bridge, but that play not being called PI...the rules of it- the minutia of the rule, needs to better. I think I knew it and everyone else knew that was a BS call, and then they commentators had to simply- comment on how it could possibly be a Non-Fowl, I think Collinsworth gave his best attempt at making an excuse for the refs with his analysis, but I countered above, there WAS an attempt to Catch the Ball by ME13, but the DB completely impaired his ability to catch it, the part about the momentum- look at the play closely- Mike tried to come back to the ball but ran into, and got ran thru by the DB...Id like to ask Collinsworth thoughts on my rebuttal are...their may be a reasonable explanation, I just dont see it. It was a biased call by a biased ref fed by a BIASED Lions Cinderella Story narrative. Next year thou, if we keep the'team'inToe. I bet the Cinderella narrative will be on OUR side. The Story line is too priceless if it works out just right. The Surprise RUN of the Bucs, coming one play from upsetting the Lions, led by Baller Mayfield and up and coming OC with just one year under his belt as OC and alreadi receiving inquiry for HC. Defense...needs a bit of work. But I think next year, we will be the ones getting favorable spots...and if that the case, I hope my Heroes Correct the spot to its PROPER place. I dont like ANYTHING for FREE, I hope the team doesnt either. I like fighting for each blade of grass...I du that figuratively on the daily. Anyway, thoughts on the call- I still think its bs and I think Collinsworth analysis was Earnest but still like ref/call dmg control.
I think what Collinsworth was implying was direction of momentum, he wanted to SEE ME13 driving back towards the ball, but how exactly?
Put your foot in the ground and jump, instead of backpedaling. That would force the DB to run through you, whereas that didn't really happen when ME continued to backpedal.
Maybe someone with better knowledge can better explain why that Wasn’t PI?

This is sports nowadays. Gotta sell everything.
Thanks soccer
I guess its just the change in momentum and coming back for the ball was impossible based on the direction he was initially moving in, then plant foot-try and redirect-then gets run through, he even tried to catch it behind his back. Then when the ball hits his back and his arms are around and draped on MEvan, and MEvans is reaching around to catch the call, I just dont see how you could jump vertically without literally getting torpedoed backwards, or come back to the ball while getting torpedoed-IMHO, ME attempted to make the catch and was overwhelmingly impeded by the defender, whose own momentum, impeded Evans from making actual physical progress towards the ball. The excuse of not coming back to the ball in inaccurate based on what I saw.
