Last year Bowles held the team together. This year there are signs of discord, lie this from Mayfield on McMillan

“We had some plays designed for [McMillan], but it’s part of being a pro, you got to take care of your body,” Mayfield said. “And sometimes unfortunate things happen, but you got to do everything you can to get ready to play for this team.”

Will Bowles lose the locker room this season?

wont know until after the bye week

A win against the 49ers would go a long way but assuming a loss and 4-6; it's a situation we were in just last year

losing to the shit teams that follow the bye week...with hopefully Evans back.  that will be the key

the fact that the media is coming out and questioning Bowles; the Glazers and Licht are also hearing that critism.

Doubt anything happens in season but if he continues to make poor coaching decisions, the seat gets warmer.

would have thought he had a 90% chance to return as head coach next year but 3 straight games with borderline retarded decisions

1 - Ravens - Playing Godwin in a blow out game, and the opposing team took out starters, when you just lost Evans for a month; Godwin season ending injury

2 - Falcons - The fake punt play in your own territory just when the defense finally gets it together, kills our chances in a must win division game

3 - Chiefs - Not going for 2 in an obvious situation to do so.  He also blundered right before that with the premature time out in which we got lucky.  Wrote about this in another thread.

so while each decision, we can still have been 0-3 in each case, but we also could have been 2-1.

Listen, I like Bowles as a person.  His grimace doesnt bother me like others.  I'm rooting for him but there is no denying he is coaching himself on the hot seat.

let's say this happens

1 - Bucs lose to Ravens but Godwin doesnt get injured on meaningless play; a superior team, hard to fault a loss here

2 - Bucs punt the ball instead of a retarded run fake punt play, still end up losing - sure, we will be upset with the defense but a coaching decision didnt lose the game

3 - Bucs go for 2 against the 7-0 back to back defending champ Chiefs against Mahomes who is top 4 QB of all time, and dont get it and lose.  Sure some will question the decision but most will understand the thought process (particularly seeing and knowing how the game will end up with Mahomes having the ball)

that 4-5 team under Bowles, and likely there is a majority that still are supporting Bowles and saying "hey it's a tough schedule, they will bounce back"

now this 4-5 team under Bowles who if they win, its clearly inspite of him; we are losing confidence.  That first team at 4-5, we know we would sweep the Panthers.  This team, now i am almost certain we drop 1 to them.  See how that works?

No but Bowles is probably going to turn a 12-5 season into a 9-8 season

“We just got to stay together. Stay together. There ain’t no panic for us. You know what I’m saying?” David said. “We’re just going to stay together and keep on working and this is going to turn around. We got a great group of guys, a great group of leaders, some guys who really want to win football games. And obviously, these losses, three in a row, that’s not something that we’re trying to do. … So we’re definitely going to figure it out and turn this thing into dubs.”

This ^^ is part of what making these discussions amusing.

There is a direct correlation between the football acumen/GM posting trolls and the classic hyperbolic position (flame). Whether its that there is a conspiracy afoot to "ice" one of our RBs  OR Devin White would be worse than Britt or never, ever played well OR  Bowles injured Godwin AND EVANS . . . etc etc

You make yourselves stand out as trolls because everything is so unreasonable, INTENTIONALLY.  And not tethered to any principle, so transparently flip flopping to troll (a stat is a FACT . .  EXCEPT when it works against your troll - "context is needed" - and vice versa)

I mean as an easy example, if you were even trying to be 1% reasonable you would have just said something like

Bowles in-game choices and inability to get his defense to cope with injuries is probably going to turn a 12-5 season into a 9-8 season

It was never going to be 12-5 (LOL), but at least you would be acknowledging that there are some thing EXTERNAL. even if your framed them as Bowles incompetence

But that wouldn't work because the point is the F-L-A-M-E

Its sort of point-by-numbers trolling

To me this ^^ is the very interesting part of all of this because of the way it works.

Bowles should be legitimately criticized for many things this season, but going to Arrowhead on MNF and taking the vastly-superior Chiefs to OVERTIME should NOT be one of them.  That is SUCCESS, not failure.

But throw in the "go for 2" call and (understandably) the proximity to success that is ultimately denied becomes the PITCHFORK.

I think it was more like 11-6, but I can see 12-5.

Check in after Week 9: Rachaad White is the starting RB.

Shameless ignoramus.

9-8? very confident. We would have to to 5-3 with the same very incompetent head coach. Then becomes 5-2 if we lose to 49ers this week.

Throw in losses to Dallas, chargers, saints and a game we shouldn’t lose like panthers and that’s 7-10 my friend

Mayfield:

“Gotta have grown men in this locker room, which I think we do,” Mayfield said.

And get healthy. Be mentally dialed in on a short week, and find a way to win. It’s an NFC opponent and [we] get a chance to get back to .500 before the bye. And that’s what matters. So we can get healthy and come back full swing.”

good to see

“We’re all brothers,” Kancey said from the Bucs’ locker room after a demoralizing 23-20 loss to the 49ers. “We all trust each other in here – nothing will bring us apart.

“We all believe in each other. We have to go out there and play together. We put in the work together so, nothing will break us up.”

yesterday the 49ers had a sidlines scuffle

i mean, i am sure we can see similar quotes said by players from the years 2009 through 2019 where we havent made the playoffs in any of those years.

Mike Evans will be key.  The fact that the Bucs went to OT with the Chiefs and barely lost to the 49ers with Cade Otton as our best receiving threat...shows that the team has heart.

but a loss to the Giants after our bye week and they can shove them quotes up their ass
