Want him back?
unfortunately imho if he’s back it’s not with tampa.
SF, raiders , Miami all more likely destinations.
But still I’d put it at 95%+ chance he stays retired.
I thought this was funny. No way he comes back but what's not funny is how this reflects on our current qbs. I'm in minority but I actually think this team is better than last years minus Brady.
Certainly wishful thinking on Winfields part
Can’t imagine Brady is still confident in his abilities to lead Tampa after last year
the Niners would be the clear choice and they’d walk to the superbowl in the NFC
That being said we are closing in on august and don’t see Brady unretiring
but do I doubt the Bucs maintaining contact with him? No I am sure they keep in touch
It was a great ride for two years, year three not so much. Hard NO for a fourth year.
Media getting carried away with an obvious joke.
Dude gave us 2 years of elite QB play and saved us from a 3 win season last year.
Multiple playoff wins and a Super Bowl trophy.
Enjoy your retirement and stay away from the Kardashians.
This is ridiculous. The new OC needs a mobile QB. Are they going to tell him he needs to readjust his playbook and offensive line? If you bring back Brady you'd have to bring back Leftwich and work with that playbook. I have a better idea. Go back and spend some time watching highlights of the Superbowl year and get your Brady fix that way. And I'm not even mentioning what butchering you'd have to do to the 2024 cap to fit Brady in this year and push the money off until next year. Why? Because of Brady's dead money! It was a great ride for two years, year three not so much. Hard NO for a fourth year.
I wish....the thought of Baker/Trask is discouraging.
Though it was common knowledge. That's my mistake to assume that. Here ya go....The new OC needs a mobile QB.
Oh, is that what Canales told you, Professor?
From Bucswire
Canales stressed the importance of balance, but made it clear they’ll do whatever is necessary to win games, either through the air or on the ground.
“So, then what it comes down to is, you’ve got to have a great system, great coaching upfront to just get the play started, and a lot of what you do with having the play actions, the boots, the keepers [is] it just slows down the backside just enough to give a great player space and then ‘see you later.’
I thought one of the reasons they brought in Mayfield was his mobility, and that's one of the reasons among others that he may have an advantage over Trask
Though it was common knowledge. That's my mistake to assume that.
That’s the funny thing…it’s not.
And, neither is your assumption.
You highlighted “boots and keepers”, but conveniently didn’t when it came to the first one he mentioned…play action.
And, Brady was one of the best at it. Even in his old age.
Also, plenty of film from the last 3 years showing Tom on boots (via play action) and getting out of the pocket to make plays.
Lastly, Canales himself has stated that Trask (the statue) is more than “mobile” enough to run his system.
So, this claim that he “needs” a mobile QB is bullshit.

"prefers"? Sure I highlighted boots and keepers because you have to be mobile to run boots and keepers. You don't have to be mobile to do a play action. That's why I didn't highlight it. If Trask is mobile enough to be able to do the things Canales needs is something we'll have to find out about. I'd be fine with Trask beating out Mayfield. I don't care who's quarterback if they can do the job. But we know what kind of quarterback Mayfield is from his history in the league. We know he's a mobile quarterback who can scramble out of the pocket and run bootlegs. The Bucs knew it too when they signed Mayfield about a month after they signed Canales. It's not rocket science to presume that they signed a quarterback who would be a good fit for the offense Canales wants to run.
"prefers"?
So, now we go from:
"He needs a mobile QB" to "He prefers a mobile QB"
The only certainties in life are death, taxes, and our resident Professor continuously moving the goalposts.
Well done, as usual.
If Trask is mobile enough to be able to do the things Canales needs is something we'll have to find out about.
Uh huh.
But, Canales has already publicly stated that Trask had the necessary mobility to run his offense.
You know, Trask. The statue.
But we know what kind of quarterback Mayfield is from his history in the league. We know he's a mobile quarterback who can scramble out of the pocket and run bootlegs.
We also know he's a turnover machine, extremely inaccurate, etc.
Weird that he was just sitting there in free agency, right?
It's not rocket science to presume that they signed a quarterback who would be a good fit for the offense Canales wants to run.
It's also not rocket science to presume they signed a veteran quarterback in free agency because they had nobody behind Trask.
Oh, and the fact, that's what NFL teams do in the offseason.

Can't wait to see what "certainty" you come up with next, Professor.
Albeit, before your usual dose of retractions, moving of the goalposts, etc.
If anything, you've made the offseason entertaining.
And, for that, we salute you!
Obviously the Bucs had limitations when deciding which QB to sign to "compete" with Trask. I'm sure Derek Carr would have been preferrable. But it's not like they just pulled over to the curb and picked up Mayfield because he had a "Will work for food!" sign. Licht is a little more savy than that. They brought Canales in to run a Canales offense, not to run an offense based on whatever QB they could dredge up, and they did their best to get a QB who would fit what Canales wants to do. It wasn't like they were picking teams and Mayfield was the last one standing there. "Do we have to take that kid? OK..." No. That's not how it went. There's a reason Mayfield only cost $4 mil, but there are also reasons the Bucs signed him. Because he fits.
But it's not like they just pulled over to the curb and picked up Mayfield because he had a "Will work for food!" sign.
Actually, that’s more or less what happened.
