Winfield could be in a matter of days. Will pass Derwin James as the highest paid safety, rightfully so.
wirfs hopefully soon after? I imagine will also reset the market and make him the highest paid OL in the league, also rightfully so.
win/win. Will create some more cap space for us short term & lock up our best 2 players on either side of the ball.
with everything else we’ve done this off season & hopefully a solid draft to fill holes what a great off season!
Yes, good news, for now. While it gives some immediate cap room, I believe it will add some significant dead cap…taking away future cap space - BUT - it will be for players/positions that you WANT to lock down.
Win/kinda win. The fact that we have a competent QB who will hopefully continue to perform at the same level/improving - being signed to a reasonable deal - brings some balance to the overall cap structure.

agreed. Whether any of us think baker is overpaid or not he’s the 3rd highest paid QB in the nfc south, hard to believe lol.
3rd in pay, first in performance. I’ll take it.

Bucs brass put together a great deal.
They didn’t overpay for an inconsistent and average QB.
Baker got rewarded for a redemption season and the Bucs have flexibility via a structure that is essentially a string of one-year deals.
Win for both sides.
2 of the best players in the league at their position gotta keep em.
In large part, that average QB was tge catalyst to take us into tge 2nd round of the playoffs. A feat few Buc QB’s have ever accomplished in the history of this franchise.Whether any of us think baker is overpaid or not he’s the 3rd highest paid QB in the nfc south, hard to believe lol.

If that’s average, then it’s proof that Brad Culpepper-level performance is all that’s necessary to do unexpected things, if the organization is committed to surrounding average QB with excellent talent at skill positions.
That also means the defense must be superior.
Building towards the future.
So bright, we need shades to see it.
