Winston's Chemistry with Seferian-JenkinsJustin Pawlowski @CommishOnlineJun 08, 2015 Jameis Winston and Austin Seferian-Jenkins already seem to be building some strong chemistry. The best friend a rookie and/or young quarterback can have is a reliable target at tight end. For Jameis Winston and the Buccaneers, the hope is that their 2014 2nd round pick can turn into just that.Austin Seferian-Jenkins showed some promise during his rookie season, but also dealt with injuries and uncertainty on the field. As a rookie in 2014, Seferian-Jenkins caught just 21 passes for 221 yards and 2 touchdowns, but the young tight end is confident moving forward.“My personal analysis is we went 2-14 and we didn’t get the job done," Seferian-Jenkins said of the horrific 2014 season. "Unfortunately, things didn’t work out the way we all wanted it to work. Personally, I was injured for most of the year, unfortunately and I didn’t do anything (like) what I was expected to do and what I expected myself to do, more importantly. This year is going to be different and we’re all excited for it and it’s going to be a fun 2015.”While much has been made of Jameis Winston having big receivers like Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson to throw to, ultimately, Winston will have the most success if he can build a chemistry with Seferian-Jenkins that is reminiscent to the chemistry he had with Nick O'Leary at FSU.“Austin is probably one of my closest friends here," Winston said of his new tight end. "We hang out a lot. Nick (O’Leary) was good at Florida State and that’s hard to beat, but Austin is bigger, longer so it’s a blessing.”Seferian-Jenkins is expected to have a large role in Dirk Koetter's offense. Marcedes Lewis and Tony Gonzalez are just a couple of examples of tight ends that have thrived in Koetter's offense. If Seferian-Jenkins can become that reliable target and have a strong chemistry with Winston, the Bucs offense should see drastic improvements from what Bucs fans have seen over the past 5 years.
