I personally thought Winston did okay for his first start. Yes, he was high on a number of early throws, but generally speaking I thought his choice of receivers was defensible and correct. No, he should not have thrown the slant which was picked, even as that looked to be pass interference. He also shot one into double coverage in the end zone when there was a guy wide open for a possible touchdown in the middle of the field at the four. However, early on I'd rather have overthrows than terrible reads. I'm not looking through rose colored glasses, and trust me, I don't want performances like this to continue in the regular season. I'm simply saying that for game one in preseason, I think we saw some good things.
