Bucs QB Winston not against showing a little mobilityMobility_Zps0Tvpqyho.jpg Jameis Winston runs for a touchdown against the Falcons last Sunday. The Bucs’ quarterback knows his 40 times aren’t great, but insists “game speed is my deal.” ASSOCIATED PRESS FILE PHOTO By Roy Cummings | Tribune Staff Published: November 6, 2015Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston may never be considered one of the NFL’s most mobile quarterbacks, but that doesn’t mean his feet aren’t viable weapons.Winston scrambled three times for 24 yards and a touchdown during the Bucs’ 23-20 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons last week and has now run 24 times for 91 yards and two touchdowns this season. It’s a modest degree of success, but it’s enough to have prompted the thought in Winston’s mind that he could indeed help the Bucs out by running the ball every once in a while.“I’ve been trying to talk to Coach about putting in some QB runs,’’ Winston said with a laugh this week. The Bucs probably didn’t laugh along. Coach Lovie Smith has made no secret of his appreciation for Winston’s mobility, but he’s also made no secret of his desire to keep his quarterback grounded.Winston understands. He doesn’t see a whole lot of designed runs in his future, but he says his running style is one that can prove beneficial should opportunities open up.“My running style, man, I just compete,’’ he said. “That’s what I do. I compete. I know people talk about my (4.97-second) 40-(yard dash) times, but game speed is my deal. Like I said, I just compete.’’[email protected]Twitter: @RCummingsTBO
