We drafted Winston because he was a winner in College. He was a confident, leader, not afraid to push the ball into tight windows to make plays happen. He was a gun slinger. That led to lots of interceptions and lots of touchdowns. Now he's in the NFL. The defenses are faster, they are bigger, hit harder and are a lot more skilled than anything he saw in college. I am not against seeing Winston dial himself down a bit and get used to this speed of the game. He will probably be much better use to the team as a "game manager". Take care of the ball, let Martin/CSims3 take a lot of pressure off of him, and to use play action to help him keep the turnovers down. I think our defense is good enough to create turnovers and keep the score close. I think week one the defense was a bit unprepared for the quick offense that Mariota ran and for the titans game plan. That was on coaching. I think realistically our defense will be much better than that game and will closer to what we saw Sunday. If our defense can play like that and our run game can do good things. We don't need Winston to be the gunslinger he was and he can learn the speed of the game at a solid pace. Where I think we will get in trouble is if we get leads on us and have to play catch up. This is where Winston will struggle unlike he did in college. Difference is he isn't playing against Duke anymore. He's playing NFL defenses.
