Left tackle Andrew Thomas and the Giants reached agreement on a 5-year, $117.5 million extension that includes an offensive-line record $67M fully guaranteed at signing, tying him to New York through the 2029 season.
Yes Wirfs should top the $25 mil mark. That won't kick in until next year and the Bucs have cap space. You have to pay left tackles. It's just ironic how the running backs who they're blocking for get the highlights on sports center but they can't catch a break when it comes to a second contract.
Wirfs cap hit this year is relatively low. Renegotiating now doesn't make the a lot of sense because it would probably increase the cap hit (even if you made his salary 1 mil and spread the bonus money out).
The Evans extension has to get done first to give them any room to do anything else this year.

It's simply a supply and demand issue with RBs. You don't need to pay them. Draft them, maybe extend them 2-3 years, then let them go. Don't need them to win.
One of the least important positions in football.
ESPN article that Wirfs is seeing a shrink about the move to left tackle!
great move Bucs! let's turn our future HOF tackle into a basket case now!

seeing a shrink lol
Not overly worried about Wirfs talking with the team psychologist.
That being said, we had a great LT prospect fall to us and we passed on him.
Zero reason to move an All-Pro RT to a different position.
Pretty fing embarrassing if you ask me , if true .
I'm not so sure I can say anything positive about this. Back in the day, if I was having some problems, my parents just told me to tough it out. Times sure have changed.
I am not a fan of the switch but the reaction here is why it does teams and players no good to provide insight. Sports psychology is in every professional sport and not because the athletes are weaker but because humans are smarter. There’s way more understanding of the athletes mind so it’s put to use.
again, not a fan of moving him but not a big deal
Me as wirfs psychologist: bro chill you're the best RT in the league. R-e-l-a-x. The bar is set low with Brady gone. You got this.
Not to mention smith set the bar quite low..jus sayin.

So posts a guy who probably wilted under the pressure of pee wee ball
what a joke
I guess Russell Wilson and numerous other NFL players (including Philly’s own Lane Johnson and AJ Brown) should be embarrassed because they see sports psychiatrists?
Kobe and Shaq too?
Hell, guys like Brady, Jordan, and Tiger should feel really stupid for using them. I mean, what the hell do they know?
What kind of parents just tell you to tough it out? You think that's a good thing that you have a problem and all they can tell you is "tough it out?" They didn't have any helpful suggestions? Did you grow up in Sparta?I'm not so sure I can say anything positive about this. Back in the day, if I was having some problems, my parents just told me to tough it out. Times sure have changed.
Yeah Wirfs is playing in the NFL. If he isn't tough he'll get steamrolled by the defense, the coach, and the fans. As opposed to the dog eat dog world working for Stanley Steamer. That's great you get tough guy advice from your parents to prepare you for carpet cleaning. Just tough it out to get out those tough spots!
Wow, that's a really well thought out post. You missed the point entirely, and instead chose to insult my parents and the carpet cleaning profession. Congrats!
