See Joe Bucs Fan article from today. That's a slight difference from T-Kraz's 4-13 - 8 games to be exact. Wirfs may be slightly biased... OK a lot biased. And we don't know whether he went through the schedule game by game to come up with that number. But the only way the Bucs are going to succeed this year is if they believe in themselves and don't pay attention to the chatter and predictions being bandied about this offseason, and that has to come from the team leaders. Wirfs, David, Evans, White, Winfield. The leaders of the Bucs have to show that they believe in the team and are fully committed to winning. They have to demand it from the rest of the team.
At least Wirfs is not acting like Bakhtiari and saying something like “The Packers are rebuilding, whether you think so or not.” Bakhtiari said when asked about Green Bay’s leverage in a Rodgers deal. “Could they be good? I don’t know. Could they be bad? Probably if you’re betting more people are gonna think they’re gonna be bad than good, right? Isn’t that fair to say?”
What kind of garbage is that? I think he might be sandbagging a bit. But let the radio hosts put out the negativity. You don't need your star players doing it. If the leaders of the team start saying "Well it's going to be a tough year, but we'll do our best...." or some BS like that, then forget it. The seasons over already. Wirfs is sticking his neck out to predict a 12-5 season. He'll look pretty silly if they go 4-13 so he didn't have to do that. Wirfs could have been vague and say something like "We're going to be better than people think" or something wishy washy like that. But he just came out and predicted 12-5. So that's a good sign that at least one of the team leaders is expecting a good season and goes out on a limb say it.
Bakhtiari later clarified....“To me, flat out how I look at it, it’s disrespectful to say you’re not rebuilding off of a Hall of Fame quarterback,” Bakhtiari said after OTAs on Wednesday. “It was disrespectful to say you weren’t rebuilding off of Brett Favre when you moved to Aaron. No one knew who Aaron was going to be...
It's interesting to me, because here you have two teams, the Packers and the Bucs who not long ago were battling in the NFC championship game. Now they both lost their HOF QBs. The Bucs star offensive tackle is predicting that the Bucs will be four games better than they were with the GOAT. The Packers star seemingly would say that's disrespectful. Is Wirfs showing disrespect towards Brady by predicting a good season? Obviously, no disrespect was intended. What are the Bucs or Packers supposed to do? Wear a black shawl over their uniform for three months? What's the correct way to properly mourn the loss of a HOF QB?
Wirfs slighting Brady just because he predicts 12-5? That's ridiculous. Clearly Wirfs has turned the page on last year and he's looking ahead, as he and all the other Bucs should. Brady is gone, a dim dot in the rearview mirror. The only way to get where you want to go is to look and move forward.
I agree it's ridiculous. There's been rumors that Bakhtiari could be traded to the Jets or somewhere, so maybe there is an ulterior motive to his comments.Wirfs slighting Brady just because he predicts 12-5? What’s Wirfs supposed to say? Lol.
not disrespectful at all
the Bucs are rebuilding. Step one … shake off all the dead $ and a few players
I want some of what he’s smoking.
but yeah obviously he isn’t going to predict some low #.
his teammates and coaches would love that. Lawl.
He didn't have to predict anything. Nobody else on the team is throwing out any numbers. He could have just made some generic statement without coming up with 12 wins. Just speculating, but perhaps he is getting tired of the gloom and doom prophecies he's hearing and he wants to let people know he's not on board with them.I want some of what he’s smoking.

selfconfidence is always great, but I feel much more like 5-12 than 12-5

Exactly.

Agree. Delusional. I think this is Wirf's way of trying to be a leader and get expectations of his teammates up. We'll see if it works. Sure hope the QB position can handle things - and a new OC. Skeptical.
I love it! Winning starts with attitude. Confidence you can win every game.
Who cares if he's way off. He's a leader. He believes.
He's not out there eating Ws or some stupid shit.
This gets me pumped.
I like the confidence the leaders are showing but it's always whether you can back it up but I get it.
