being content making playoffs and seeing where it goes
I am not sure the Bucs truly see this as a Super Bowl team, even before the injuries, so I doubt they give up any meaningful draft capital. would be thrilled to be wrong though IF they made a move and it got us to the SB
My thought process was for the last 3 years Waddles numbers are Mike Evans type numbers, and if we can get that kind of production for a 3rd round pick, why not?
You might be right, but you'd have to factor in that we have a FO that drafted Egbuka and Johnson, so they probably feel good about their recent WR drafting. Add in Godwin, a third round pick, and of course Evans . . . and they are likely to see their drafting as better value.
Its maybe short term/immediate (Waddle) versus long term value in a draft pick (cheaper contract etc), at least in their mind

but the reason they may see that is because of the lack of pass rush. I also see our injuries and just how severe some of those are (Goedeke,Godwin, McMillian, Reddick, Evans) as to a potential deterrent. While i want Evans back for playoffs, if our other 3 guys are healthy, we honestly shouldn't miss a beat as the Bucs have showed against Seattle and San Fran. If Goedeke is cooked, then that's problematic.
Packers added Parsons and was that because Greenbay was much more talented than the Bucs or did they see the NFC as wide open this year?
Bucs have one of the best records in the NFL damn near halfway through the year, if this isn't a potential Superbowl team season, then i dont know what is
3 of the Bucs win have come against. 500 teams or better. The Eagles number is 5, Detroit is 2, and Rams are 2. Greenbay is 1. Honestly, the only team that should scare us on this list is Detroit. We will get Eagles next time we play them but Detroit would appear to have our number. Under Baker we are 1-3 against them including playoffs and Baker really only looked half decent in the playoff loss a few years ago.
you add a Max Crosby to this team, and a player than be solid for us the next 5 years, yeah i think you strongly consider doing it. Not only does it boost our chances this year but a building block for years to come.

Its an interesting point when you consider that the team doesn't really have a clear option in the draft. Someone who knows the draft values could probably say better than me, but IF you accept as a premise that realistically you need a top 10-15 pick to get a game wrecking edge guy (obviously Crosby was later round guy) then the Bucs don't have that type of pick aside from some sort of trade. So, which way is the best? Not sure.
The counter though is that the SB Bucs didn't make any big move to get enough edge pressure to win a 3rd round pick (JPP) and a FA. And they probably see Diaby as close to one of those guys.
Trade deadline approaches . .
Mike is in his last year, and hate to say this but looks like re-signing Godwin to that huge deal wasn’t the smartest investment. If I had to bet, I’d say he’s never going to be healthy enough to contribute to the pay he is receiving. (Really hope I’m wrong).
wouldn’t be surprised either if McMillan never plays again. Hope he’s alright, but this could be a disastrous season on the long term status of our receiving corp.

yep.
Recently he was still in a neck brace, but also supposedly on track in terms of recovery:
“Bucs receiver Jalen McMillan remains in a neck brace two months after his severe sprain in August, but hasn’t had any setbacks,” Fox Sports NFL Reporter Greg Auman wrote on his official X account on October 13. “On course for a December return right now. Some of the original reporting on McMillan’s timetable had mentioned a Week 10 return after the Bucs’ bye, but the expectation was a December return and still is.”
Neck injury though so no joke

yeah if McMillian isn't an option and Evans is toast and Godwin looking like Gronk when he first came out of retirement; yikes

and might that be a reason that OBP might not see this as an all-in year, even if maybe they did at the beginning? who knows
Mass-injury related thought hit me.
Maybe some rule changes/union negotiations are needed? Like: moving training camp to a cool weather state, while also allowing contact practices, early?
Never seen a two year stretch with so many injuries on key teams.
We need to do something about our D.
One person's take on trade before deadline:
"Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Stand pat
Barring the unlikely availability of a pass rusher — interior or edge — who could impact the defense without requiring too much compensation, the Bucs should stand pat. There are three reasons. One, they have shown that the players already on the team can compete with the best in the NFC. Yes, they lost to the Lions, but they have wins against the Seahawks and 49ers. Two, they await reinforcements as Chris Godwin, Luke Goedeke, Jalen McMillan, Bucky Irving and maybe even Mike Evans are expected back from injuries at some point. And three, draft picks are worth more to the Bucs than other teams because general manager Jason Licht uses them so well. This team probably would be better served using picks in the draft than in trades.
My problem with holding steady and planning on that long list of players to return, is this season has shown as we wait for one to return, two more hit the injury list. It’s been like this all season long.
