What makes this one so incredible is that it wasn’t just a run-of-the-mill head coach who ended up cutting Al Harris loose after just one year. This was Tony Dungy, a future Hall of Famer. This guy is revered as one of the best defensive minds of his time. For him to not recognize the type of player Harris could be is a major black eye for an otherwise exemplary career.
After leaving Tampa Bay in 1998, he latched on as a rotational corner in Philadelphia where he helped the Eagles to two a pair of NFC championship games. It wasn’t until he arrived in Green Bay though that he found his calling. Harris became one of the best press corners in football, reaching two Pro Bowls in 2007 and 2008.
