Right now I'd settle for a winning season with no playoffs. I look at a team like the Panthers and I don't see any reason why good coaches can't get the same production out of what we have.

If we beat the lesser teams and 1/4 of the tougher teams than it's a success. Gruden-stumbling into the playoffs and getting blown out is heart breaking. Fighting your way in and losing a tough one makes you feel good about next year.

27-17 is a blowout? Man Gruden haters are relentless. That was to the eventual world champs FYI. Heartbreaking was the 79 and 99 NFC title games or Week 17 in 2000 or the mnf game in 2003. The other hurt but we lost to the best team in football.

For this team coming from where it's been yeah it's a success but not the ultimate success.It's like with most things, you have short term goals but what you really want is to get those long terms.Playofs would be nice but ultimately worthless if we follow it up with 5 years of missing them again.I want to see real improvement towards becoming an annual contender.

3 of those were in one year. Even tho they somehow made it twice after that (and lost both times) the overall caliber of the team was getting less every year.Think we have to get there and win at least one game.
Ultimately, the goal is to win the Super Bowl - but few teams go from worst to first. It's a progression. First, you get good enough to be in the playoffs. Then you get good enough to advance in the playoffs. Then you become Champ. The Bucs need to get to that first step - so yes, it would be a successful season if the Bucs reach the playoffs but are one and done.
