even with the personal fouls is a top 10 safety in the NFL.. no doubt he had a rough year but just like any rule when its first implemented officials honor it to a T. but i think next year they'll back off some and that should bring the old Goldson back IMO
I say you have to give Goldson another year. He might get his act together and flourish with new coaching/system. I don't understand why we would pay him all of that money to play for somebody else.
+1I was disappointed with Goldson's play this year to say the least, but there's no point in getting rid of him after one year. If he doesn't improve next year, then we can cut ties with him or look for a trade partner.
Trade. My start Tandy over Goldson thread explains how I feel. He was a huge liability in coverage and his strength very often hurt us. We need true cover safeties
Pass me whatever your smoking because it much be good!
With his entire salary for this year being guaranteed and ($3 million of next years) the net gain would be zero on the cap if we released him so what would be the point?
Big loss on the cap.

He didn't play as a top 10 safety this year which is all that matters. As to whether he plays as one next season is anyone's guess. I think the Bucs problem back there is having two guys with essentially the same skillset rather than one of a SS and one of a FS.

There is no loss on the cap at all, not 1 cent.

PFF grades him out as the 2nd worst safety in the league out of almost 70 players.
Never would have signed him in the first place
didn't understand the signing, this is a passing league & new rules makes those big hitter less attractive...you shouldn't overpay for a Strong Safety in this league era unless he has a huge impact in the passing game...and like for RB, this a position where durability/injury is a big issue, you shouldn't spend that much.imo when you spend so much on position like RB, SS or OG, it's a big mistake! you need them but they offer less value so you can't throw big $ like we did!+ we already have Barron, which make this move really weird in every facet!Goldson can't be traded for now, too much guaranteed money until next year... and should be cut next year if he don't take a huge paycut!
If he was going to change his stripes he would have already. He is not a very good safety. At all. If we can trade him you do it in a heartbeat. If you can't you probably keep him because of the salary and you have enough other areas to work on that you don't need to create another hole just to have something to fill. Ultimately though, he can, and should, be replaced.
I'd trade penn and dj, and that's about it.Goldson is still pretty good, but can't be let on to believe he can still play that way. Schiano wanted a tough safety core, and he got it. He just didn't manage it well.
Trade him, at least we can put Barron into the close to the line role he can actual do and let us try and get a real center fielder to play back.....or at least get someone who can do the same things Goldson for a whole lot less money and with fewer personal fouls.
At the time I thought the Bucs overpaid him, but I still thought he was a pretty good player. I didn't expect him to play this poorly.
Tandy? Tandy? Was it just me or was Tandy that I saw getting constantly smoked in coverage last Sunday. Tandy is a backup, plain and simple.I say you have to give Goldson another year. He might get his act together and flourish with new coaching/system. I don't understand why we would pay him all of that money to play for somebody else.
I am withholding judgement on Goldson until I see him in an NFL defense. He was great in SF. I am assuming that he will be great in a better scheme, as well. I would love the cover two for this team as a base defense. Goldson coming downhill and tattooing receivers is what we need. Him covering someone m2m wont take advantage of his strengths. As far as Keith Tandy, holy cow! I was just rewatching the defense and Tandy is God awful. I believe he could also be better with a NFL style defense, but man he cant tackle players 1-1. He got schooled by Graham, which is a huge mismatch, and a few weeks back he had Cam Newton for a sack and all he could do is grab and ankle and hope for help. That kid is a joke. #Laughingstock

2014 salary is guaranteed fully as was this seasons plus roster bonuses. Cap hit would be around $11.5 mil.
