: NFL Draft: Steelers could trade up for WR Mike EvansPosted by: Rick Brisse April 8, 2014 The Pittsburgh Steelers lost Emmanuel Sanders and Jerricho Cotchery, who combined for 113 catches, 1,342 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2013, this offseason, and are in need of a tall receiver.According to Scott Brown of ESPN.com, the only way the Steelers, who have the No. 15 overall pick, move up in the draft would be to select wide receiver Mike Evans of Texas A&M.“A couple of weeks ago I would have said no way simply because the Steelers only had six picks in the draft and were without a third-round selection having traded it a year ago to the Browns,” Brown writes. “That they were awarded three compensatory picks at the NFL owners meetings gives them some flexibility if they want to move up. The one player I could see them moving into the top 10 to try and get is Texas A&M wide receiver Mike Evans. Since Buffalo traded for Mike Williams last week, he’s no longer in play for No. 9. But given how many other needs the Steelers have I would be surprised if they traded up since it would likely cost them a couple of draft picks.”Evans is 6-foot-5, 231-pounds and ran a sub 4.5 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. The Steelers are hoping next year’s receiving corps includes Pro Bowl receiver Antonio Brown, Marcus Wheaton, free-agent Lance Moore, who signed this offseason from the New Orleans Saints, and a tall receiver. The Steelers have high hopes for Wheaton.“It’s tough to play wide receiver with broken fingers,” coach Mike Tomlin said last week at the NFL owners meetings, per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I look forward to him taking a significant step for us. I know that we need him to.” Read more: http://sportsglory.com/nfl/nfl-draft-steelers-trade-wr-mike-evans/17021#ixzz2yMyoLx3a
