The Taysom Fitzgerald experiment is over. I have to wonder why they changed their mind now. I don't think it has to do with a Gabbert injury, because the new guy is not ready to step in and play any more than Fitzgerald.

By adding Chad Kanoff and the question becomes does the NFL have a quota for how many Ivy League players you are allowed to have on your team? W're adding Princeton to go with Harvard and Penn. Maybe they are looking for a QB who can mentally connect with our receivers.

But part of the reason for adding Kanoff might be that we are playing the Cardinals, where Kanoff spent the preseason. Here's a clip from an article that was written when Kanoff joined the Lions...
Just how much can Kanoff reveal about the Cardinals’ new-look offense? “Pretty much everything,” Kingsbury joked with the Detroit media in a conference call. “Whatever he says is exactly what we’re going to run in the game.” Kingsbury doesn’t believe that the slow unveil of his offense throughout preseason has been as important as people have made it out to be.
“They’ve had all summer to tweak and change, and we’ve had the same. I think that’s been overblown a little bit, but it’s all part of the gamesmanship,” Kingsbury said.

“We’ll see how smart Chad is, I don’t know,” Shipley said. “It’s a bold strategy move on everybody’s part where they can try to get somebody in the first couple of weeks where they can get some intel.”

So I guess a little good intel is more important than continuing to try to develop the next Taysom Hill, but don't be surprised if this is just a one month stop for Kanoff until after the Cardinals game and you see Fitzgerald back after that. That is unless the Cardinals get clever and put Fitzgerald on their practice squad. That's what I'd do.
