THE KID CONTINUES TO FIGHT!! I KNOW SOME ON HERE WERE ASKING ABOUT HIS PROGRESS. BELOW IS A LINK TO HIS FATHERS FACEBOOK ACCOUNT AND ONE OF HIS MOST RECENT UPDATES CC'D BELOW. https://www.facebook.com/rossjohnson60?fref=ts Good evening ?#?TeamX? !!Well, Lisa Clymer Johnson and are pretty excited this evening! After about 2 or so weeks waiting for insurance to approve X's next round of therapies, we were able to begin all 3 disciplines yesterday. We had been going up the last couple of weeks to just get some work in on the EFS bike...(on Tuesday he got the bike for 2 hours and rode just about 16 miles!)But the last two days, we saw what we consider to be a couple of pretty big gains for old #42!! I am uploading a video that Lisa took today (as it was her day to be able to take him). The video is pretty self explanatory so I won't need to take a bunch of time typing.Long story short, they had him on an adapted walker and took him outside to let him "walk" down the sidewalk that runs in front of the facility. Lisa said he put in some amazing work and pretty much astonished his PT's. We know his right side is fairly strong, but once again, it was his left leg in which we are seeing amazing gains...gains I remind you that we aren't "supposed to be seeing" with the type and extent of his injuries.Lisa said towards the end of the walk, they stopped to take a short break (I think the PT's needed it more than X!) smile emoticon But after a few moments, X began to actually initiate the walking...or should I say speed walking. The PT working with his legs (who was actually sitting on the walker) noticed he just started picking up his feet and moving them. In fact, he got to the point she couldn't keep up with him and asked Lisa and the PT if they were pushing the walker...but they weren't...he was trying to go that fast. Lisa said it reminded her of all the times X had to push the sled in football practice, and so she went with it. As they wife of a former player and coach, she recalled some of the commands she had heard me "encourage" my players with..."C'mon X, drive your feet. Quick feet X...high knees X...high knees...drive through it X!!!"It was as if she could see X imagining himself back on the field hitting that sled...and that familiar sly, yet determined smile/smirk came across his face...and he dug deeper.Deeper to the point he ended up "walking" between 400-500 feet of sidewalk! That's what he does. So for all you doctors and therapists out there...I don't want to sound like an arrogant jerk...but please...for the love of God...keep telling #42 he can't come back from this. Please. I beg you! smile emoticonAs I watched the video that Lisa sent me...I couldn't keep the tears from welling up in my eyes and streaming down my face. That's my kid....and there goes my hero. I am just so proud of my son.As I watched the video that Lisa sent me...I couldn't keep but thinking and believing...God is God...and He is good.Good night, God bless, we love you all!
