Donkeyman, After the first preson game you posted that you could already tell that Canalas's new ZBS was going to greatly improve our running game. Well through the first 3 games we are worst than last year. Why is that?

PR has an article on Bowles "we don't have [a running game]" comment and it starts like this:
"After taking a step forward in last week’s win over the Bears, the Bucs’ run game looked more like the dead-last unit it was last year in Monday night’s 25-11 loss to the defending NFC champion Eagles"
To the part in BOLD, why would it look any different?
Scheme change or not you still need TALENT. We have enough talent to run some against the Bears (likely a bottom dweller), but nowhere near enough to run against a true contender defense.
The only difference so far is that Canales stayed with it (as long as he could) whereas Leftwich likely abandons the run in the 2nd quarter

I read a post where Eagles RB Swift had gained 100 yds before being touched by a defender. RB Swift is a good RB, but the main reason he was able to run for 100 yds before being touched is the play of the Eagles offensive line. The Bucs offensive line is adequate in pass blocking, but dismal in run blocking. This will allow opposing teams defenses to plan their defensive scheme to stop the pass.

last years Bucs offense was an illusion. It was never going to hold up because it was only Brady playing pitch and catch.
By completely abandoning the run, they allowed teams to drop deep, which is a big part of Evans drop off.
Running or even just committing to the run pulls defenders into gaps, slows the pass rush etc. it keeps a defense honest.

The left side with Wirfs and Feiler are just fine. Mauch is a rookie with the physicality to grow and be coached up into a keeper, but Hainsey and Goedeke are major liabilities
