READ OPTION: PAYING THE PRICE FOR A CORNER
General Manager Jason Licht said a week ago that the team is not going to pigeon hole themselves into a corner by taking a prospect they have graded lower than others just because it may be a more pressing need. They’re going to take the player who shows the most talent for their system and can be the best football player for them.
If that’s the case, spending a pick even as high as the first round could be deemed as plausible at a position that seems to already have its two starters: cornerback.

However, the team could also value other players at different positions as better prospects regardless and that could have them passing on cornerbacks that they like anyways.
But, let’s say the team is going to capitalize on this rich cornerback class. If you had to pull the trigger on one of the players listed on the previous page, which would it be at the prices they’re listed?
On the flip side, if you’re totally unhappy with the Bucs’ current scheme and strategy with cornerbacks and secondary in general, fire away at your thoughts there, too. I don’t think that’s going to change anytime soon, but if you wish the Buccaneers were more of an aggressive Cover 3, man coverage team instead of the more finesse Cover 2 and Cover 4 team they are now, let’s hear why. (However, I do have to warn you that though this defensive strategy has a higher ceiling, if one piece of it goes down – the pass rush, any of the corners or either of the safeties – it all unwinds pretty quick.)
So, who’s your pick and why?
