Read-Option: Stay The Course?

Is this the right path for Winston? Is the gunslingers’ way the only way? Or is there a better way?

We didn’t touch on the fumbles that Winston has had over the years, and that does go along with his mentality, but the reason I didn’t breakdown those decisions in the film room is because they just can’t happen. Just don’t do it. I know we talk about not wanting to coach a mentality out of Winston, but when it comes to plays where fumbles are involved, just don’t do it. Tuck the ball; have a better pocket presence. That part needs to go away. On the interception side, that is up to interpretation due to how Winston plays.

So, what did you think of Winston coming out of college? Who did you link his talents to in terms of an NFL comparison, and is he anywhere close to that now? Was it Roethlisberger? Stafford? Maybe even Favre? Perhaps someone else? Has your opinion on Winston changed on how good he can be or the type of quarterback he is?
