READ-OPTION: BUY OR SELL JABRILL PEPPERS IN TAMPA BAY
Whether or not the All-Twenty Tuesday changed your mind on Jabrill Peppers is one thing, but it’s another to be on board with the Buccaneers drafting him.
Drafting Peppers would most likely mean the team is either taking him at pick No. 19, or is trading back a few spot and picking him in the 20’s. That would mean the Bucs are selecting him over either a good pass rusher, a good pass catcher, one of the top offensive linemen (if you’re still a stickler for that), and would most likely be over players like Budda Baker, Adoree’ Jackson and Evan Engram as well.
If Peppers were to drop all the way to the Buccaneers’ second round pick, that’s a different story. I think most would be on board with the possibility of him being picked there, even if he’s a raw player on defense.
But, when forming your opinion, you also have to think of what Peppers can do on special teams. This is a player who was one of the most electrifying punt and kick return players in all of college football. Even when used as a running back, getting the ball in his hands often meant bad news for those trying to catch him. If selected, he’d give the Buccaneers an offensive special teams threat to match their stellar special teams defense on punt and kick coverage.
So, what’s your price on Jabrill Peppers. Realistically, would you be OK with the Bucs drafting him? If so, what’s your sweet spot, and what price is too high?
