After a rough, 25-11 loss on Monday Night Football, the Bucs were plenty disappointed in falling to the unbeaten Eagles. While the 2-1 Bucs are down at the moment, inside linebacker Devin White doesn’t believe they’re out.
Although Tampa Bay was clearly outclassed by Philadelphia, the defending NFC champions, White plans to play the Eagles again down the road this year – in the postseason.
He stated that the Bucs are going to make the playoffs this season.
Devin White Makes A Bold Post-Game Prediction
“I wanted to beat them so bad, but at the end of the day, we’ll see them again,” Bucs inside linebacker Devin White said. “We’re in the same (conference). We’re going to the playoffs and I’m saying that right now. It is what it is.”
Following up on why he feels so confident, White trusts what Tampa Bay’s defense can do. The Bucs were stout in the red zone and at least forced the Eagles to work for every yard that was gained.
“Most importantly we got a great defense,” Devin White said. “We go out there and we fight. Sometimes it doesn’t go our way but I think we’re going to keep fighting. That was a great team that we played, I’m not going to take anything away from them. We’ve got to do better, but I just know this defense can carry us to the Super Bowl.”
The defense did try to keep the Bucs in the game. Tampa Bay’s defense created two turnovers when Philadelphia was driving, including an interception from White. That makes seven turnovers for the defense with 14 games left to go.
“Our goal is 30 turnovers, and I think we now [are] at seven,” White said. “We just pride ourselves on helping the ‘O’ (offense) out. At the end of the day, if they are on fire, [or] if they are not, just get them the ball. We do a lot of ball drills at practice [with] every position group, we do circuits, so it’s good to see it paying off.
“That’s what we have to do, that’s what the game is, [and] we want to be a great defense, [so] we have to get turnovers. We are going to keep harping on it until the cows come home.”
Devin White Discuses His Groin Injury

Devin White played with a groin injury during the week that made him questionable for Monday night’s game. He was definitely feeling it that evening as his interception limited his ability to return it far.
A fully healthy Devin White takes the interception to the house for a pick-six, but White had to go out of bounds not long after heading up the field because of said injury. Luckily he should be good to go for next week’s huge matchup.
“That was a pick-six all day,” White said. “I wanted to just reverse field and go score. It’s been a long time since I caught a pick, actually the Super Bowl, so I was so excited. It’s frustrating at the same time. I got in the shower, I asked ‘Why me?’ But why not me? I’m the one that faced adversity.
“At the end of the day, that’s not going to be my only one. That was one of the things, just coverage skills – zone eyes and we were in man-to-man on the back end just locking down backs, making sure they don’t catch the ball. I put it out there on tape but that doesn’t mean nothing if we don’t win the game.”
White believes he should be good to go for next week’s huge matchup at New Orleans against the 2-1 Saints.
“Physically I’m good,” White said. “I just had a little discomfort. I wish I would have just ‘manned’ it out and got a touchdown, but I was in a little pain. I had to go in and get it fixed and then I came back out and finished the game.”
