Devin White has found a new team, according to Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz.
The now former Bucs inside linebacker has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, signing a one-year deal worth up to $7.5 million.
White had spent the past five years with Tampa Bay after the team drafted him fifth overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.

White had become a lightning rod with fans as he racked up plenty of counting stats over his time in Tampa Bay. His 23 sacks over the past five years were more than any other off-ball linebacker in the league and he added to those 566 tackles and 40 tackles for loss.
But issues in coverage, inconsistency in playing the run downhill and getting off blocks and some concerns regarding his effort level on a play-in, play-out basis led him to fall out of favor with both fans and team personnel alike.
Devin White Gets His Wish – To Play With The Eagles
Devin White’s athleticism led him to being a draft darling the year he was taken as the Bucs selected him over other highly regarded players such as pass rushers Josh Allen, Rashan Gary and Brian Burns, as well as tight end T.J. Hockenson. White had confidence in those abilities as he publicly declared during the pre-draft process that he was aiming to be the first inside linebacker to earn a $100 million contract (after his rookie deal expired).

Last offseason when the Bucs opted to let him play out his fifth-year option rather than negotiate a long-term extension with him, he in a way reiterated those hopes by requesting a trade. White expressed interest in joining the Philadelphia Eagles last offseason. Now he gets his wish. The Bucs have beaten the the Eagles in the playoffs twice since 2021.
White eventually rescinded his trade request, but his inconsistent play would continue in 2023. He would miss three games due to injury while setting a career low in tackles (83) to go along with 2.5 sacks, six passes defensed and one interception.
White would be benched late in the season and forced into a timeshare with 2021 fifth-round pick K.J. Britt. That put the writing on the wall that White and the Bucs were headed for a split this offseason. That writing has now been filled in with permanent marker.
Due to how things ended in Tampa Bay White is forced to take a cheaper, one-year, prove-it deal and restore his value in hopes he can earn the large contract he has been angling for since he came out of LSU.
