Pewter Report debuted a new season-long weekend feature this season called Fifth Down, that will showcase some of the Bucs’ new players each week as the season goes along. This week’s featured player is rookie defensive back Ryan Smith.
Smith was born in Germany, and raised in Clinton, Maryland and played both football and basketball in high school before earning a scholarship to play football at North Carolina Central University where he started 42 of 45 games. Smith was a fourth round pick of the Buccaneers earlier this year in the NFL Draft and has since converted from cornerback to safety.
