Former Bucs defensive end Carl Nassib made news on Monday when he announced publicly that he was gay. He becomes the first active NFL player to announce that he’s gay. Nassib played in Tampa Bay from 2018-19 before signing a three-year, $25.25 million contract with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020. The deal included $16.75 million in guaranteed money.

Nassib was claimed off waivers by the Bucs in September of 2018 after spending his first three years in Cleveland. He recorded 6.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in his first season in Tampa Bay. The 6-foot-7, 275-pound edge rusher notched six sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 2019 before moving on to Las Vegas in free agency.

Nassib struggled in his first year with the Raiders. He only started five games and posted 2.5 sacks and one interception in his first year in Las Vegas.
