In the final practice before the Bucs head up to Tennessee to take on the Titans, first in two joint practices and then in the game on Saturday, the Buccaneers were without one of their star young cornerbacks.
No practice for #Bucs CB Carlton Davis today. We’ll see if he practices once they get to Tennessee.

Davis was not practicing on Tuesday, but head coach Dirk Koetter said that all of the cornerbacks (including Vernon Hargreaves) do not have injuries that will go into the regular season, so that must mean that whatever kept Davis on the sidelines on Tuesday isn’t serious.
We’ll see if Davis suits up in the practice to follow before the next game.

As we’ve entered what Scott Reynolds would call the “dog days of training camp”, some of the younger players have started to either phase themselves in or out. For undrafted rookie cornerback Mark Myers, a product of Southeastern University in Lakeland, he isn’t ready to be phased out.

Myers had his best day of training camp on Tuesday, which is great momentum for him with the second game coming up as we get close to the final cuts.
This year the NFL isn’t having teams do gradual roster cuts like they did for previous preseason/training camps. Now it just goes from a 90-man training camp roster to a 53-man active roster overnight after the final preseason game. Because of that, guys like Myers are getting more time to get comfortable, and that appears to be helping him a lot.
The hang time Grimes had on this play was insane. Would have been an incredible INT. pic.twitter.com/rHRlxHfTrJ

Overall it was a pretty quiet day for the defense, but this play above would have been one of the best plays we’ve seen in camp from either side of the ball if Grimes could have come away with the interception.
Grimes showing off athleticism like that tells us he’s good to go from whatever sidelined him last week.
