Bucs right tackle Tristan Wirfs quickly became a Tampa Bay treasure as the team’s first-round pick in 2020.

The Iowa All-American, who was the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year, made an instant impact as a rookie. He helped the Bucs win Super Bowl LV while giving up just one sack as a Day 1 starter.

Now Wirfs is larger than life – literally – after a Pro Bowl and All-Pro second season with the Bucs. He’s becoming a national treasure.

Wirfs went viral in Tuesday’s press conference when he joked that he wasn’t worthy enough to have Tom Brady’s phone number.

“I don’t have Tom’s number,” Wirfs laughed. “No, I don’t think I’m there yet.”

Brady posted a hilarious response with a screenshot of a text exchange with Wirfs. The big Bucs right tackle now has Brady’s number.

Wirfs is such a fantastic offensive lineman that he rarely gets called for holding. But he was clearly excited to get a hold of Brady’s number yesterday afternoon.

Securing the G.O.A.T.’s phone number surely made it a big day for Wirfs on Tuesday.

But every day is a big day for big Wirfs apparently.

Despite weighing in at 320 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine in 2020 and still being listed at 320 on the Bucs roster, Wirfs revealed that his actual playing weight is much higher.

“About 345,” Wirfs said. “That’s usually what I’ve been at. In camp I’ve kind of fluctuated and I’ll lose like 14 pounds in practice. It’s so hot down here. But yeah, 345. And, I don’t know, it changes as the season goes. It just depends, but I feel really good there.”

THREE HUNDRED AND FORTY-FIVE POUNDS, FOLKS!

The 6-foot-5 Wirfs has put on an additional 25 pounds since entering the league and quickly becoming one of the most dominant linemen. And with Wirfs, it’s nearly 345 pounds of sheer muscle.

Wirfs lives in the weight room. Remember that he broke the Iowa football all-time hang clean record with 450 pounds back in 2019.

In fact, Wirfs is still going strong when it comes to weightlifting. And Captain Fear lifting, apparently.
