Latest Bucs Headlines

It’s been a chaotic couple of days in the world of the Bucs and Jaguars to say the least. As NFL fans, and specifically those that root for the Bucs, are still trying to figure out how to wrap their heads around the aftermath of this saga left behind by Liam Coen.

In one instance Coen went from taking a meeting with the Jaguars, withdrawing his name from their head coaching vacancy and giving his word to the Bucs that he’d come back as their offensive coordinator in return for becoming the highest paid coordinator in league history.  That was only to go back on his word after the Jaguars fired general manager Trent Baalke as Liam Coen ignored the Bucs, lied to them and agreed to be the next head coach in Jacksonville after all.

Got all of that?

We’re still picking up the pieces trying to understand how it all went down. But at the same time, we all must move on at some point. The Bucs have to quickly starter the process of finding a new offensive coordinator along with a defensive line coach and potentially a new inside linebackers coach, all while making someone a defensive coordinator.

The Jaguars on the other hand are going to be introducing Liam Coen to their fanbase as their next guy in charge. Bucs fans understandably have had a lot of negative things to say about Coen given the circumstance. Finally, we somewhat heard from Coen as he released a statement through FOX Sports and Good Morning Football’s own Peter Schrager, who posted the message.

Liam Coen Briefly Mentions Todd Bowles And Bucs In Statement

We were all curious to see if Coen would bring up the situation that just occurred. He chose to personally thank Bucs head coach Todd Bowles and the Bucs’ organization. What he did not do was specifically mention general manager Jason Licht or the Glazer Family.

Here was the whole statement.

“Becoming the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars is an opportunity of a lifetime, and one that I am going to run with to instill a championship culture and winning tradition here in Duval. This doesn’t happen without the support and opportunities that my family and I have been afforded throughout my career, especially during this past season in Tampa Bay. We thank Todd Bowles for his continued support and the entire Buccaneers organization for the experience, and know they will have success ahead.

“Most of all, we are grateful to Shad Khan for his belief in what we will bring to the Jaguars. We will work tirelessly to reward his confidence. As head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, I will hire a first-class coaching staff, establish a distinctive and effective brand of football on both sides of the ball, and our players will live for the black and teal. Shad and Jaguars fans should expect nothing less, and that’s what we plan to deliver and more. My wife Ashley and our family are honored to be here and a part of the Jacksonville community. We are ready to get to work.”
