It shouldn’t be a surprise given his track record, but Mike Evans can make a whole lot of history in 2024.
The Bucs legend and future Pro Football Hall of Famer has already reached plenty of milestones and broken countless records in his career, but there are more to chase this season.
“I’m super competitive,” Evans said earlier this summer. “Y’all know that about me, I’ve been competitive for a long time. I’m down on myself more than anybody else could be. There’s more for me to do in my career, there’s more that I feel I can do. I love to win, and, you know, I’m chasing history.”

Of course, when you’re talking Mike Evans and milestones, you have to start with his streak of 1,000-yard seasons.
He already owns the record for most consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons to begin a career with 10, and with another in 2024, he’ll tie Jerry Rice for the longest overall streak in NFL history.
“I don’t, like, list off things, but that’s one of them that’s in the back of my mind because everybody’s talking about it,” Evans said of chasing Rice’s record. “That’s been a record around for how many years now? Over 20 years? So, that’s something I definitely want to accomplish, and just help the team win ball games and be better than we were last year.”
Mike Evans Can Keep Climbing Up The Ranks This Season
Beyond extending his 1,000-yard streak and tying Jerry Rice’s longstanding record, Mike Evans will look to keep cementing his place in NFL history elsewhere throughout the 2024 season.

He’s 612 receiving yards away from passing former teammate Antonio Brown (12,291) for the 25th-most in league history. Of course, if Evans crosses 1,000 yards again, he could reach as high as 23rd all-time. Though it does depend on the season that DeAndre Hopkins has, as he’s currently in 23rd.
Another big season in terms of touchdown production could also see Mike Evans climb higher in the NFL record books. As MLFootball recently pointed out on Twitter, Evans is only six touchdown catches away from becoming the fifth player in NFL history with at least 100 in his first 11 seasons. He’d join Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, Marvin Harrison and Terrell Owens.

Not only that, but six receiving touchdowns would launch Evans into the top 10 in NFL history, tying him with Tim Brown and Steve Largent for ninth-most all-time. Every player in the top 10 is — or in the case of Larry Fitzgerald and Antonio Gates, will be — in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

And if Evans can cross the 12-touchdown mark for the fourth time in his last five seasons, he would become the fifth player ever with 12+ touchdown receptions in six or more seasons.

Evans already owns countless Buccaneer records, and he can keep working his way up the team’s record books in 2024. Notably, his 154 games played are already the 10th-most in Tampa Bay history, and he’s only 11 away from passing Bucs Ring of Honor member and Pro Football Hall of Famer John Lynch for seventh-most in team history.
So yes, Mike Evans is already a future Hall of Famer — his case is strong enough as it is. But 2024 could see him strengthen that case even more.
And it all starts Sunday against the Washington Commanders at Raymond James Stadium.
