LB Lavonte David

Despite not recording an interception or a sack for the first time in his NFL career, David was the Bucs’ best and most consistent player in 2017. After a down year in 2016, David bounced back this year and led the team with 101 tackles, and a career-high five forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries despite missing three games due to injuries. Unfortunately, Tampa Bay’s 5-11 record and his lack of splash plays outside of his forced fumbles and fumble recoveries led to David being snubbed yet again for the Pro Bowl.
Despite the team’s horrendous pass rush, David, who excels as a blitzer, was seldom called on to rush the passer for some reason. David recorded a career-high seven sacks in 2013 and notched five last year. As one of the team’s captains, David stepped up and delivered the pre-game message late in the season with quarterback Jameis Winston out due to injury.
