Tampa Bay ends the draft with the selection of yet another versatile offensive star in Hurd, who began his career at Tennessee as a running back and finished it as a wide receiver at Baylor. Hurd has a great work ethics, NFL size, tackle-breaking ability, good hands and tremendous work ethic that has a very high upside as an NFL receiver.

Hurd was a five-star running back recruit at Tennessee where he won the starting job ahead of Alvin Kamara and John Kelly. He produced a monster season in the SEC as a sophomore, rushing for 1,285 yards and 12 touchdowns, in addition to adding 190 yards and two more scores through the air.

A concussion during his junior season prompted a position switch to wide receiver to further his NFL career, and was the right call as he was a huge target for defenders at 6-foot-5, 226 pounds. Hurd sat out the 2017 season and transferred to Baylor where he became one of the Bears’ leaders on and off the field.

Hurd, who visited One Buccaneer Place prior to the draft, would offer Bucs head coach Bruce Arians and offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich an ideal toy to play with on offense due to his versatility. Hurd could line up as a big slot receiver, as he did at Baylor, play outside due to his size, and even take some handoffs from Jameis Winston, as he did last year with Baylor, averaging 4.4 yards per carry and scoring three touchdowns as a banging big back. He’ll slide to the sixth or seventh round due to his 4.66 speed.
