The 2017 Heisman Trophy winner is similar in style and charisma to Manziel, but what Mayfield brings to the table is much better – and yes, more reliable.

Mayfield operates well from outside of structure (on the run and scrambling) and that’s often what people focus on and think he can’t play from the pocket, but that’s just not the case. Mayfield knows how to play from a pro style, he knows how to go through progressions, and if all that fails he knows how to make things happen off-script. Mayfield is a bit of a wild card to go No. 1. Though the draft will likely be QB-top heavy, there isn’t a clear-cut guy for the Browns here. Drafting Mayfield could boost the entire offense around him in as soon as Year 1 as the rest of the offense falls into place.
