*TRADE*
No. 4 Buffalo Bills (9-7) via CLE
The Pick: Sam Darnold, QB, USC
Our second trade!
When you look at plausible trade scenarios, Buffalo sitting at No. 21 and No. 22 with no quarterback make them an easy candidate as a trade partner, especially for someone in the Top 5 where the quarterbacks will go. In this scenario, thanks to the price set by the Cardinals in the pick before and due to the fact that there’s only one of the top four quarterbacks left, I think the Bills can get out of this one by giving up only one of their first-round picks and both of their second-round picks in 2018.
Darnold will be one of the youngest players in the draft at just 20 years old on draft night. He’s had some jaw-dropping big moments over the last two years, but is still raw in terms of technique and decision-making. He’s a guy who I wish could sit for a bit in the NFL, but that luxury is not often available for top quarterbacks. It likely won’t be for Darnold, and he’ll have to learn quick – but that wouldn’t make him the wrong pick.
