No. 7 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-11)
The Pick: Vita Vea, DT, Washington
With no Nelson, no Chubb and likely no trade partners for a quarterback, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could make the first “surprising” pick of the Top 10.
Let’s get this out of the way now: Vea is not just a run stuffer. He has crazy athleticism for a man his size, and the quarterbacks in the Pac-12 who went up against him said that even when Washington rushed just three people, Vea made it feel like a full-frontal assault. Vea on the Bucs would allow them to get creative in ways they tried to last year by signing Chris Baker and drafting Stevie Tu’ikolovatu. Vea can play nose tackle in either a 3-4 or a 4-3 front, which gives the Bucs tremendous versatility.
