No. 19 Dallas Cowboys (9-7)
The Pick: Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State
The Cowboys have injected some youth and improvements into their secondary with Jourdan Lewis, Byron Jones and Chidobe Awuzie, but I still think they’re looking for that true shutdown cornerback.
At 5-foot-10, 195 pounds, Ward is of good size for an outside cornerback. He’s coming from a defensive back system that produced Marshon Lattimore, Gareon Conley and Malik Hooker the year before, and his tape shows that he’s of the same school of thought those three had. Ward is a physical, agressive defensive back who has the ball skills to win in man coverage on the outside.
