Before the season began, thinking James would make it this far in the draft would have been silly but there’s a chance it could happen.
James’ final year as a Seminole was not ideal. He played in a hybrid position as a linebacker and edge defender just as much as he did a traditional safety, which makes grading his tape tough. It’s clear that FSU let him coast off his incredible athletic ability rather than teach him to hone in on one position.
Regardless, James is still one of the elite defensive backs in the class, and will likely play strong safety at a high level in the NFL.
