Elway getting his hands on Baker Mayfield as his franchise quarterback? Yes please.
It’s going to take a certain team to get the most out of Baker Mayfield. On one hand, you have the part that teams loves: the clutch throws, the deep ball accuracy, the ability to play outside of structure, the skill to make things happen with his feet, how he process the game, nearly 15,000 passing yards and 131 career passing touchdowns, etc. But, on the other hand, you’ll have what some teams see as distractions from him as well: the constant trash talk, the inappropriate gestures on the sidelines, the dancing and antics before and after games.
But, in reality, you can’t have one without the other. A team isn’t going to get the most out of Mayfield if they don’t let him be, well, Mayfield. If the right team can get him and not coach the charisma out of them, we could be talking about a special quarterback.
