Appearing on the Ronnie and TKras show on 95.3 WDAE, NFL analyst Ian Rapoport said that he would expect the Bucs to inquire about signing former Pro Bowl running back Kareem Hunt, along with many other NFL teams.

Rapoport followed up by saying that it will ultimately come down to whether or not the owners of the team, the Glazer family, would be willing to take a chance on the running back who is facing a suspension.

“I would expect teams like the Bucs with big time running back needs and the propensity to  make a splash in free agency to be linked to him,” Rapoport said. “These decisions to bring a guy like Kareem Hunt in are made by the owner. That’s where it comes down to it, do the Glazers say: ‘We are okay having this guy in the building, given what he has basically been proven to have done.'”

Bucs ownership and front office have stuck by their players with controversial off the field issues in the past. This includes as recently as last season when quarterback Jameis Winston was suspended three games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy by inappropriately touching a female Uber driver in 2016.

While the decision will come from the owners, head coach Bruce Arians has shown the propensity to give second chances. He gave safety Tyrann Mathieu an opportunity when the Cardinals drafted him in the third round of the 2013 draft, despite being dismissed from LSU for failing multiple drug tests.

The Bucs currently have Ronald Jones on their depth chart at running back, with Peyton Barber as a restricted free agent, and Jacquizz Rodgers an unrestricted free agent. Jones had a disappointing rookie season, rushing for 44 yards on the year, averaging 1.9 yards per attempt, and scoring one touchdown.

Hunt was on caught on video where he shoving and kicking a female at a hotel last offseason. No suspension has been handed down yet, but according to Rapoport, Hunt looks to be facing anywhere from a six to 10 game suspension.

Please don’t Licht.

Do you work somewhere? What if the boss came in and told you your new coworker is a convicted woman beater whose videos of beating a woman are public and it will probably lead to lots of news stories about that for the next year or longer. How would that sit with you?

F–k that guy.

First off I don’t condone any type of abuse of woman. You should never put your hands on a female period. But you make it sound like Hunt Ray riced her. He barely kicks her in the leg as he is being pulled backwards. That is def wrong and he should be punished but it wasn’t malicious and he def deserves a 2nd chance. To answer your question if I send the video and it was only what hunt did and I knew he was punished for it and is also found councilling to fix it I wouldn’t mind. Hunt… Read more »

He does have another incident the resulting in violence. Winston has multiple incidents also. So should we just cut Winston? You don’t think hunt knows playing is a privilege now. He lost millions and almost lost his nfl career. If that’s not enough to straighten you up then nothing is. He deserves a 2nd chance to prove himself. It’s low risk high reward. If there’s another incident you cut him. If not you get a top 5 RB cheap for a couple years. Hunt missed the last 5 games of the season and still out performed Barber. Hunt will prob… Read more »

Kareem hunt is too talented..we cant feature barber all year again. Bruce isn’t a bleeding heart either, unlike koetter.. KC was stupid to cut him on a rookie contract. Besides, Cleveland girls are more disrespectful than they get credit for

KC wasn’t stupid to cut him. They did perfectly fine without him. They were one offsides call away from the Super Bowl. System product. Undrafted 5th year player Damien Williams replaced Hunt easily.

The only reason KC cut him was because he lied about the incident to the Chiefs front office. Had he been honest from the start he wound still be a chief. They didn’t cut him for his assault, they cut him because he was dishonesties.

Someone who deserves a 2nd chance? Colin Kapernick. That’s who the Bucs and their fans should give a 2nd chance to. A talented player who stands firmly behind his convictions, which are not pending charges from the penal system.

Kapernick is not talented. If he was he would have been signed already. Kap has never thrown for more than 21 TDS in a season or more than 3400 yds. He is consistently in the bottom half of the league in every category. He is an avg QB on his best day. Fitz is a better QB than he is. If he was a top 10 QB he would have been signed by now.

I didn’t say Kap should start. He would make a fine backup. Fitz is done. Griffin never was. Bucs could draft a QB late, but why pass on a guy that could be a force for positivity in the room. Also, his kneeling was about police brutality against blacks. Having Macdill so close could help the healing process between the NFL and it’s fans.

It doesn’t matter why kap was kneeling unfortunately. The fact that half of America considered it an insult is what matters. It’s all about cultures. People are raised differently in differently with different cultures. So even though he was meaning to insult half of America he did anyway. He did something with good intentions ruins that was perceived rude and disrespectful by a lot of America. It’s lije the OK symbol we use here 👌. To us Americans in means ok and when we use it we aren’t meaning any disrespect but to Brazil, turkey, and France it is considered… Read more »

When my wife and I were in Cleveland a few years ago we witnessed a girl who appeared to be in her 20’s pounding on a teenage boy while her friends looked on like they were watching some MMA fight. After a few seconds it was over. Not painting Cleveland girls with deeznuts’ broad brush. Just relaying a story.

By the way, my wife is a Cleveland girl.

Rappaport A guy who tries to keep up with 32 teams. What a joke. No way they sign that guy. Huge PR problem you don’t need. Darcie glazer has a say in what happens on something like that. It’s a business. Political and business considerations. Not going to happen unless the glazers are total idiots.

Why would anyone want someone who beats on women to be a part of the team they follow?

Please spare me “the aggressive Cleveland woman” bullshit. Hunt came back and kicked a woman who was on the ground, so GTFO with that.

Been a Bucs fan since day one, but this would finally be the move that would make me stop giving a crap about this organization.

fredster

He’s a dirt bag and a liar to boot. Didn’t Elliott beat up on a woman too but no tape so just 4 game suspension? Anyways I really don’t think it’s a good idea. He’s not a game changer and we can find a good RB elsewhere. Arians came here to win now 6-10 game suspension doesn’t exactly for that mold.

I firmly believe it’s more about the O line than the RB in the NFL. Sure you need a good RB but if O line is good you don’t need too 5 RB to win or get results

First off, he wasn’t even charged with a crime let alone convicted as some suggest. I by no means condone what he did, but I saw the tape, he didn’t ” beat” her either. He pushed her, and his kick was more of a push then a kick also. Didn’t exactly try and put her through the uprights. Again, not condoning what he did, but would be willing to give the young man a second chance.

I don’t think it’s going to be an option. I read that multiple teams are looking into his services. Based on our record recently why would he want to come here? He is more likely to choose a team that looks like it may have a chance to contend.

So because he didn’t kick a woman already on the ground “that hard”, then somehow he is an ok dude?

This isn’t about giving a guy a second chance, this is about the Bucs and how they should to build their team.

Hunt is a hell of a back. I think Arians has a way with players as far as getting them to change their ways. What Hunt did was terrible. I would give him a second chance even if he is suspended for 10 games. Look at it like a red shirt season and figure he’ll be a steal for 2020 at worst. Some team will give him a chance and God knows the Bucs could sure use him.

Never said he was an O.K. dude, I did say I didn’t condone what he did. Why do some of you make up shit? He was not charged with a crime, therefore he wasn’t convicted of anything, as some of you imply. Yes I believe in giving the young man a second chance. I saw on that video drunken, stupid behavior by a bunch of young stupid people. I didn’t see anyone punched, slapped or beaten. Because I believe a young person who did something stupid, and wrong should be given a second chance, doesn’t mean I’m stupid, and wrong.… Read more »
