Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show on Thursday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport had some good news for Bucs fans. Wide receiver Chris Godwin missed Wednesday’s practice with a foot injury and wasn’t spotted on Thursday either. When Tampa Bay signed Breshad Perriman, speculation grew on the significance of Godwin’s injury. But according to Rapoport, Godwin’s injury isn’t a big deal.
“I heard Godwin is ok,” Rapoport said. “Not a major injury.”
Godwin hasn’t missed a game this season, after missing four a year ago. The veteran receiver leads the team with 50 catches for 660 yards and four touchdowns. He might miss the Bucs’ Week 10 game against Washington, but it sounds like his absence won’t be a long one. Then again, Rapoport did tweet a couple weeks ago that Antonio Brown would likely be back after the bye week. That doesn’t appear to be the case.

“I will say, the Gronk injury has taken longer, and the AB injury has taken longer,” Rapoport said on the show. “It sounds like Gronk is probably down at least this week. And it sounds like AB, I mean he’s still in a boot. So he’s down a little bit too.”
If Godwin can’t play on Sunday, expect Tyler Johnson to assume his workload. Perriman will slot into a shared role as the team’s third receiver. Third-year player Scotty Miller returned to practice this week and could be available for Week 10 too.
UPDATE from NFL.com: Speaking on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Wednesday, Bucs head coach Arians also said receiver Chris Godwin will be held of practice until Friday, at which point the team will re-evaluate him before making a decision on his Week 10 status.
“That’s going to be a difficult one. We’ll see how it goes,” Arians said.
