NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Friday that the Bucs have been “quietly” negotiating toward a contract extension with linebacker Lavonte David, per source.
The #Bucs have been quietly doing some business, as they’ve had recent negotiations with an eye toward extending LB Lavonte David, source said. One of the faces of their D for nearly a decade, David is due to make $10.75M this season, the final one in his current deal.

2020 will be David’s final year on a five-year, $50.25 million dollar contract with the 30-year-old linebacker set to make $10.75 million this year.
Heading into his ninth season in the NFL, all spent with the Bucs, David currently has the third-most solo tackles and the second-most forced fumbles in Tampa Bay’s history, but he’s never been part of a Bucs playoff appearance.
