Following a disappointing end to Matt Gay’s rookie season, converting just three of his final eight field goal attempts on the season, the Bucs brought in kicker Elliott Fry to compete with Gay throughout training camp. But Tampa Bay will reportedly be looking for additional options at the position.

Just over a week ago, PewterReport.com wrote about some of Gay’s struggles in training camp before Fry missed two field goals in the Bucs’ scrimmage held inside Raymond James Stadium this past Friday.

Following head coach Bruce Arians’ and special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong’s comments on looking for consistency from the position, Tampa Bay reportedly brought in Ryan Succop for a visit, per ESPN’s Field Yates, and will be bringing Cody Parkey for a workout following the conclusion of his COVID-19 testing, per Greg Auman of The Athletic.

Succop originally entered the league in 2009, spending five seasons with Kansas City before spending the following six in Tennessee. In 2019 however, Succop converted just one of his six field goal attempts over an injury-riddled six-game season for the veteran.

Succop carries a career field goal percentage of 82.2 percent.

Parkey, the younger of the Bucs’ two new kicking competitors, has spent time with five different teams over his six seasons in the NFL. Arguably most known for his “double doink” miss against Philadelphia as time expired in the 2018 playoffs for Chicago, Parkey spent three games with the Titans in 2019 where he converted all three of his field goal attempts before being released ahead of Succops activation from the injured reserve.

Parkey has a career field goal percentage of 84.3 percent.
